I went for a preliminary look around up there today on my new bike. It's gonna be cold in the middle of August. It was only 7 degrees today. You'll all need to bring your winter woollies I think. At least MX5's have the luxury of a heater. I wish my bike did. I'm still cold!

I've downgraded to a 600. A Yamaha YZF R6.

It actually produces more power than my old 900 but way less torque. So it still gets along OK if you keep the revs up to it.
Yamaha is pushing a similar line to Mazda's NC horse and rider as one thing. But in the case of the R6 it's actually true. It is the most unobtusive bike I've ever ridden. Just think where you want to go and the bike magically goes there. I think they've done a great job.

I had the option of red/white or black. I thought the red/white showed off it's lines better. And it's a bit more visible for other drivers to notice.
There is no way I'd take a bike onto a racetrack. I'm way to old for that sort of caper. I ride like an old women now compared to when I was younger and sillier. A crash, a week in hospital and not being able to walk for 5 weeks takes away some of your confidence.

That's exactly why I gave up on bikes altogether many years ago.
Now with the helmet laws etc., I actually feel freer driving my 5 topless than I do on a bike.
I can also listen to good music while I drive.

ALWAYS RUNNING, SP with Bilstein Coil Overs and Doof Doof sound. Member of the Fat Bastards Racing Team

I was going to wait till Club Events came out but seeing as you asked for it Hammer here it is
Garry’s Drive in the Country
When: Sunday 20th August 2006
Meeting: Appin Park – Leonard Wanson Gates, Appin Rd, Appin (on the eastern side of the road across from the school). If travelling from Sydney, take the second Campbelltown exit from the M5 and follow the signs to Bulli/Appin (route 69). Appin is approximately 14km south of Campbelltown.
Time: 10 for 10:30am
Details: Time to get out of the hustle and bustle of busy city life and head for a relaxing cruise through the country side. We will be weaving our way from the sleepy hamlet of Appin via the back roads of the Southern Highlands to our lunch destination at the Bundanoon Country Hotel in Bundanoon. Here we will catch up with the NSW MX5 Club Canberra Chapter for the option of a country style Sunday roast or a selection from the Bistro menu. After lunch we continue on to Berrima and the end of the official run. You will then have the option of browsing the many art and craft shops in Berrima and returning home at your leisure, making your own way back to Sydney via the freeway or continuing on with me back to Sydney via Jamberoo Pass, Lawrence Hargrave Drive and the Royal National Park.
The official run to Berrima will be as advertised, a cruise in the country. The trip from Berrima back to Sydney via the scenic route after the official run finishes should be a little more spirited.
I hope everyone can find their way to Appin.
