MX-5 Mania Track Talk Night Thurs 16/3/06NOTE NEW DATE

Postby maxwolfie » Wed Mar 08, 2006 10:21 am

Sounds interesting :)

Taken off www.mx5mania.com.au

"March Tech Talk
Topic: Track Driving
Date: Tuesday 16th March
Time: 6:30pm for 7:00pm start
Cost: Free!

A big thank you to those who attended our last tech night - it was very well received.

Our March tech night will be hosted by Zane Al-Said and Dunlop Motorsport Tyres. For anyone who goes to track days, or is interested in going, this event must not be missed. This evening is a must for all track day participants.

Zane, a Formula Vee racer and former MX-5 driver in the NSW Production Sports, will be covering driver tips on and off the track.

Peter from Dunlop Motorsport tyres will be providing us with the latest information on the D-01 and D-02 road legal track tyres.

We will also have some other experienced racers on hand to answer any questions in regard to car set up.

This evening is FREE and must not be missed. "

And I'd already organised to get off work early tonight so I could attend.

Thanks for the news Ian, it's much appreciated.
Saves me standing around with the crickets!

A big thank you to David and Simone for hosting this, and supplying the pizzas, drinks etc., and also to Zane who gave such an interesting talk about vehicle dynamics at the track, and the guy from the Dunlop tyre place for his talk and for bringing along a few interesting tyres to look at and play with.
I found it all very interesting.

I was always under the impresion that all race tyres were bias belted, but all the new ones are now of a radial construction.
There were also 10% discount vouchers given out to all attendees, not just for tyres, but other race gear as well.
For you racers out there, they also showed a new type of Hans device which looks really good and doesn't require a special helmet, seat or harness to use effectively.

Once again, thanks MX-5 Mania for a great night.
