I'd say the short way is the long way and the long way is the short way :P

I found the "long way" very easy. Sure you might have to go 50 once you get in to town, but the bonus is that you can move your feet a bit by using all 3 pedals. That being said, another 5 minutes on the Hume won't hurt.

If you go the "long way", take the first Goulburn exit you see off the freeway, then take the left at the first set of lights you see. Then just follow. The railway bridge isn't mega obvious, but nor is it all that easy to miss either.

Its long in terms of TIME not distance. Ok I worked it out that the short way is about 5-10 mins shorter, but still worth it IMO, I find after doing a million for 2 hours that going 50 through the city is unbearably slow. Just rock up to wakefield and drive straight onto the track, you don't even have to slow down.

Actually I was waiting for someone to comment that the short way actually has more KM.
Either way is easy anyway, whichever you choose, hope its made it easier for those people going down.

So you're the only left that hasn't gone down tonight?

I reckon you'll be quite the wreck when you arrive at 7:30 tomorrow morning. I was pretty booted after driving down myself, so I was glad I went a day early. It's only two hours, but I found it great to have had that extra sleep and not be in a massive rush to get out there in the am.

Naah - I'm heading down in the morning too. It does make it a longer day, but you won't notice it until home time, so take it easy on the trip back. :)

Great day. Great company. Lots of cars. Too many on the track at one time(about 12!!!) to get a decent run but still managed to get it down into the high 1:13s.
Brakes were my biggest problem. Had quite a few 'offs' when the pedal headed half way towards the floor in the fish hook and at the end of the back straight on numerous occasions with me exerting more force on the pedal than the pads were doing to the discs.
I left early because there was no reason to battle on without brakes and cramps to my hands.
I got home, swapped my wheels and did a mini brake bleed - fronts only but it's only marginally better. Time to do a complete change. It's been 12 months sine the last one and probably the fluid is gone.
Might investigate some better pads than the Hawk HPS also.
Anyway it was a good shake down leading up to the Super Sprint series.
:D

So that's all there is to say so far?

12 cars is a lot on at one time. How many runs did you guys get in? Has someone topped my off in terms of spectacularity? What other cars showed?

I would say yes there was more spectacular sights (turn 1-2 2 cars one after the other both losing it  )
no damage the whole day that I saw (other than mechanical/tyres)
I've got about 1889 pictures from the day taking up 6.73GB on my HHD if someone wants to help go thought them all :P

Yeh like when some guys gearbox exploded at the end of the straight and ajay slipped on it and fell off the track lol.
Or when I came around turn 2 right on the limit then to see ajay sitting in the middle of the track facing the wrong way, that scared the crap out of me.
The mania race car's tyre exploded too. Not sure what else happened, well I heard that the white MR2 that was there blew a gasket, not that I really care.

Oh and gavins brakes don't work and tyres are bad. We even completely flushed the brake fluid between rounds.

It was a pretty good day, although too much traffic, it was hard to get clear runs.

The best part about the new track is when you come around turn 1 (the kink) there are 2 dead straight tyre marks of someone locking up for about 20 meters that starts just when you are meant to turn and continue off the road and on the dirt. Its classic, like something marcus would do. Was that anyone from here? if so, thanks, I use the marks as a guide to my braking point now.

I actually had no idea this was on but coincidentally was there on the same day. I was surprised to see so many fives on a normal street day! I was in a red NA and my mate was in one of the BRG NA's. We also had an XY falcon and an alpha. Yes the day happened to be quite busy but after lunch it cleared up quite nicely. The last couple of sessions we only had 7 cars on the track! I had so much fun with some almost scrubbed out tyres! All in all what a top day! (except for those bloody KIA driver training cars. They refused to let ppl past, protecting their race line as if it was a matter of life or death, and sat exceptionally close to cars in front - ie: less than a metre)
