Great run.
I had a blast.. great way to test out a recently purchased car.
I was loving the sound of the car, but hating the terrible, bald nankangs on the rear. I couldn't get any power down.. just small touches of the accelerator on anything but dead straight made it kick around. Sorry for holding anyone up.
Took some pics, couldn't be bothered to edit.

Well done Jimmi. That was a brilliant route, with some fantastic hot mix surfaces where we would least expect them. The Healey boys ought to be watching these Iceberg runs, because this was FAR better than their Bathurst run. 15 cars was a great turnout-particularly considering we are a forum, not a car club!
We enjoyed a fast and relatively traffic free run thru the National Park, along picturesque Seacliffe Drive over the "Seabridge", up Bulli Pass and then along twisty backroads to Kangaroo Valley
After a freezing cold "pit stop" at Kangaroo Valley, we enjoyed about 50ks more twisties , then a hot and generous breakfast at Berry, followed by another run back to the Headland Hotel for cold beer for "morning tea" . It all made a memorable and highly enjoyable morning.
To all those who missed out, take my tip and make sure you dont miss out next year! Thanks again for all the effort you put into this,Jimmi. I believe it is now an "established" event, and I for one am looking forward to next year.

Looks great! (just pick a different weekend next year plz so it doesn't clash with my anniversary with my missus!!)
You guys didn't happen to be on the way back on Great Pacific Drive at around 1pm today did you?
I bumped into a bunch of MX5s going in that direction around the area today.

Had to ask - did people think you were crazy driving with the tops down that early in the morning?

What a great run! For those who don't know, i was the NC that appeared just before the base of Macquarie Pass. I had to part ways with the group after Berri (went back through Kangaroo Valley to Robertson, collected my co-driver, and went back through to Berri to meet friends for lunch, then took the coast road to Kiama and headed back up Jamberoo Pass )
Truly a great drive, so good to see so many MX5's willing to get out on the road at an early hour - it is well worth it. Not an hour after we had passed through the Valley and Berri, the roads were teaming with traffic. As Guran has pointed out, it's well worth the effort of going to bed an hour or two earlier
No, occasionally i get remarks, but with the sun out it's not all that cold anyway. Anyone who has been in a modern convertible knows how warm they are with the roof down anyhow - i have yet to use my heater at full blast in the NC, just get's too hot!
However Zawrilla, Sasso and myself were bemused by a local(?) woman who walked passed us in Kangaroo Valley and remarked over her shoulder "God, not talking about Mazda's at THIS time of the morning, are you?"
Still didn't get to meet everyone, however it was good to put some new names and faces to familiar forum posters!

Here's a slightly revised version of Jimi's original map. The only difference is our turn off at Yallah (instead of Dapto) to head out to Marshall Mount, Calderwood and crossing Macquarie Rivulet; then instead of crossing right over Cambewarra Mountain, we turned left and went across to Bellawongarah and then down Berry Mountain into Berry. Even if you take a different route down there, it's pretty hard to go wrong - they're all good driving roads.
Thanks for posting the photos Zawrilla. Has anyone got any more? I recall seeing Alan poke a camera over his shoulder quite a few times while we were on the road.

Just remembered one of the most amazing sites from this drive was dropping down into Kangaroo Valley and looking out to see the entire valley was covered in a layer of fog! It was a beautiful site! Not so pleasant though at the bottom when stuck behind a Volvo 740 and unable to overtake since I couldn't see more than 50m ahead. And it was damned cold standing in the main street at Kangaroo Valley.

Hi guys!
Thanks for a brilliant morning. I had the Supreme Blue NB with the BD bar
This was my first MX5 run, and Ive gotta say, I loved every second of it.
The roads were brilliant, I thought i knew the south coast pretty well, but there were a few roads there that are just gems!
It was also great to be able to put faces to forum names.
I did take a few photos, but I cant post them till I get home. However this is one I snapped with my mobile.
So thanks again guys!

Sad I was not there ..... the cars looked all shined up for the drive, bet everyone gave their cars a polish before heading out? ... and those NA's look fantastic, sometimes the older models look better than the newer ones.
