Stan, what a great day!! Thanks for a fantastic run. Those newly re-surfaced roads on the back way between Lithgow and Bathurst made for some very nice driving (they weren't like that on my last trip through there!) It was a long day (just over 500 kms round trip) but was very enjoyable. Thanks again!! :D

Thanks for organising everything Stan. Great day, good turnout, nice people. I got to put some more faces to forumites and check out some scenery rather than concentrating on driving this time which was a pleasant change. Thanks to Black04RSC for the lift. There was a nice selection of cars but only 1 NC turned up. A slack effort from the NC owners. :P I thought the Tarana club run to Tarana Pub was cute. I think someone on the police force must be reading our forum though. I dont think I've ever seen so many Highway Patrol cars on a club run.

PS My old wheels look great on your car MrQ. 8)

P.S. I still have your little present from Wakefield safely stashed away

So Steve, where are you hiding these days... don't see your SP parked on the road at work anymore, however there is a "hektic spek" orange "GOTNOS" MX5 in it's place? ? Something your not telling us, or is it just coincidence?

Just coincidence. That one has always been there. His girlfriend used to drive it all the time but he must have it back now. I think it's meant to mtch the yellow RX8 with lightning bolts on it down the road.

We have now moved over to Nth Ryde as of a month ago so unfortunatley not more meeting up on the way to work. :(

A big thanks to STM and all who help with the day. The run was a great and sunny top-down experience. And ditto to bigdog's comments on our trip back home. I even saw him snigger and giggle after he pounded off the lights only to have to pull up at the next. Hearing the turbo right \"next door\" was a delight. 8)
*looks in yellow pages for nearest turbo fitter*

Oh, Jean your son James needs to learn a bit more about filming. I was in  & had head spins after watching the film from all the wobbles.

STM, I don't think we can use this footage, sorry. :(

Hello to all.

First I will introduce myself. My name is James and I am the errent son from Western Australia of one of your all conquering leaders and VP Jean.
Secondly, I want to extend my gratitude and thanks to everyone that i met and spoke to over the bathurst run. What a fantastic day. It is a rare opportunity that i get to do these sort of things with my mother but what a pleasure and to get to meet so many wonderful people as well, I can now understand why the MX5 club of NSW has been such a part of her life over the many years that she has been involved.
Another very notable mention of thanks goes to the great run leader Stefan, for needing a so called navigator at the front of the pack so that he could concentrate on his driving and enjoying rather than worrying about the next turn off. What a joy and pleasure to sit beside him and feel and hear the pleasure of what driving a stock MX5 1.6 at almost flat out is like. By almost I am implying that I am sure that he may have been holding back just a very small amount on my behalf. Next time Stefan dont bother be like Nike, Just go for it!!!!!!!!!!!
And especially thank you for letting me have a lap around bathurst behind the wheel of your fantasitic red car. What a great sound dropping down the gears and flooring it out of the dipper and out of the corner leading on to conrad straight. It was so good I just had to do another lap.
Also notable mention goes to Mr Plod in his white GTP falcon with the orange strip who made himself just visible at the bottom of conrad leading into the chase so that I was able haul out the anchors and go around at a comfortable(LEGAL) 60km with all he could see was the huge smile on my face.
Albert is also another notable mention. His witty repartie over the CB radio was class. Of course that was before I changed from Moms car that was organized to keep in touch of the back of the line to the Navigator position with Stefan at the front. It was a pity that there could not have been more runners with radios. It would have helped keep the communications throughout the pack in touch as the group stretched out on the fantastic roads. Something to think about everyone. Better to stay in touch rather than to lose total contact between the front and the back. Also I really hope that the video camera footage that I took with alberts camera turns out fantastic and that everyone gets to view it. I was actually dissappointed when that little battery symbol started flashing and i knew i did not have much time left. That was a great part of the run after Sofala. Dont mind the average commentary either. I was pretty taken with the whole day and event.
Lastly of course thanks to my wonderful mother. Now that I have received the age of consent for the MX5(insurance company insisted), she has been great to let me use her MX while I am here and I greatly appreciate it. I will just see how she feels if I schedule my next trip for a track day at wakefield. Could be very interesting.
Again thanks alot for a wonderful day. Just like in a mastercard commercial.......................PRICELESS..........................

Best to you all and i will make sure that i see you again in the future.

Yours sincerely
James Cook

was in & had head spins after watching the film from all the wobbles.

LOL what do you expect....suspesion as hard as rock. Needs to be clamped to a roll bar in my opinion. & then there is still plenty of shaking

all in all coppers out in numbers is a good thing keeps people like me under controll. :)

But what about Black04RSC money pit. That thing handles. Love the steering on it. a lot sharper than my own. Suspension setup is awsome.
was thinking about it all afternoon. Then it clicked.....you've got power steering LOL.

I recon my allingment needs sharpening up. The \"almost Stock 1.6\" seems to understeer a little too mutch compared to \"the money pit\".
as well as some lightweight rimms.

suck>>>>>ptschhhhhhh.  8)

Loved all the positive feed back from everyone yesterday. This made it it very special for me. Thanks everyone.

:(
:frown:
Pity about that it was a bit of a challenge though with bouncing around in the car and not being able to anchor myself while still staying strapped into car as it hurtled around the corners but i did what I could.

Not to worry. Better than no footage at all. Loved the start of the filming with the lense cap on..PRICELESS. I will try to get it out there. It had nice car sounds from STM's beast.

It was a pleasure to meet you too James and thanks for the compliments. For a minute you had me worried there with what you could have said about my antics...sorry STM

I have some photos (only got a few before both sets of batteries ran out  - that will teach me for not ensuring they are changed before going to events like this). I have to charge the batteries so will pull the photos off the camera tonight an see what I've got thats worth posting.
