well since no one has made a report......here is mine
Well it was a huge turn out. About 30 cars for the annual Putty Rd run.
For those who don't know Putty Road is one of those gems. Its got scenary. Long uphill & downhill sweepers. Overtaking lanes with some pretty good twisties. Some long straights. & 2 sections of just hard core twisties. One section ....called Colo Hts is extreemly exiting. 55 & 45km corners. It runs along a ridge the road is smooth wide & fenced off with Amoco's...... Just awsome. Usually this road is packed with motorbikes. But this time we didn't have to many of them slowing us down. We had 2 in front of us having a lot of fun. watching those bikers do thier work is very exiting. keeping a respectable distance as not to threaten him but let him know I was there having fun with him.
We stopped at the halfway house. This is a road side cafe/stop. It is to have a little rest before the climax of the day. The Broke section. This is a very dangerous section its where probably most accidents happen. Corners are mostly posted between 35-45km/h but a few of the corners have a double apex. You think you're though it & realise .....nope ....not quite. It can be very dangerous for the unassuming or inexperienced driver ending upside down & up againts a rock or cliff face. There is also nowhere to overtake. Only 2 or 3 spots to pull over in 15 km of delightfull twists & turns. The road is smooth but a lot more narrow than the Colo hts section. All corners have a suggested speed posted before them.
At the Broke section & get stuck behing some Exel. But luckylie he pulls over & allows us to pass. Virtually a clear run 9/10th of the way though the Valley. I had a MX5 SP & a Honda Integra Type R chasing me..... I couln't get away B)
Next section is between Broke & Wollombi. Scenery is drop dead gorgeous. We passed Cows, Geese & lizzards on the middle of the road. We had cought up to an older Merc who was really having a lot of fun. He was involved in some rally . There was a few old classics. (alfas & jags) He was going great, you could see the car was really leaning but the driver wasn't getting out of shape. We were going through medium sweepers. As soon as the tight twisties started he allowed us past . This guy was an awsome driver considering the car he had. Shortly after that we got held up by an Alfa.
We had lunch at the Wollombi Tavern (most of us anyway) from there it was back to Sydney via Mangrove Mountain & The Old Pacific Hwy.
Mangrove Mountain Rd is rough as hell. Bumps everywhere. It is also very scenic.
The old pacific Hwy is a Gem. But expect to see a lot more traffic & patroll cars.
We finished off at the Pie in the Sky for some Coffee Pies & Lies. This day was a drivers delight. 3 of the best roads around Sydney in 1 day.

thats my version of the days events.
I had a great day
