wow, looks like alot of posting went on while my net was out (which it still is, I'm posting from uni)
It was sort of emotional blackmail but he already said he wouldn't be changing his mind so I decided it would be fine for me to give my opinion on the subject
Also does anyone have any information or links regarding this Nissan Silvia drive? I took a quick look at nissansilvia.com and couldn't find anything

SHeezzz I saw this coming. I might go another day. Was getting a little worried myself as it seemed to be (unwittingly) getting a little competitive. Competition + unknown drivers+ Putty Rd = smashed car/people. Stan would feel responsible if someone got injured even though we would not expect him to.
Also police do read forums and even if your driving sensibly it would be easy for them to pull everyone over and do them for silly defects simply to make a point. They did it at Bondi and The Rocks when these areas became popular with the flash car but can't drive clientele.

I still don't know where all this competetive atmosphere people are speaking of is. But if people don't want to come because of their superstition then their loss. Its just going to be like any other run...pure fun.

I for one will still be attending the run, I'm planning on driving no differently to how I would if I were driving by myself. If people do start driving like idiots (which I doubt as everyone here seems to have some intelligence about them) then I'll simply drop off to the back of the field and continue to drive at my own pace.
If you want to drive like an idiot, do it in your own time, if you're coming along on the day, stay responsible or go home, I'm looking forward to the day and would hate to see it cancelled because of a lack of interest due to people talking themselves and the road up.
Although even if the run is cancelled I'll do it alone anyway as I'm interested by the road and want to see what all the fuss is about.

Glad to hear it.
Would anyone happen to have a spare seat, and wouldn't mine dragging me and my camera along? I don't weigh much (65kg) so I won't make the car handle badly.

After a drive home down the comenarra parkway tonight, i've noticed that my brakes are feeling pretty average, so I might head down to mania on saturday and pick up some pads before the run...
Does anyone have any recommendations??

Make sure you bed them in on Saturday then.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Having a look to see what was on inSiders on Sunday when I came across this thread.
I use to drive the Putty nightly doing shuttle work from Penrith to Glen Innes. That's up and down the Putty twice a night, 5 nights a week for nearly 3 years!!
How do I rate the Putty Rd, definitely the one road I have dríven that if you don't treat it with RESPECT it WILL bite you on the arse and
Spit you back out again!!!!!
This road hasn't changed bugger all in over twenty years. It may have been resurfaced in spots, some corners widened and some straightened out. In the 80's all the insurance company's declined to cover any trucks using the Putty which pretty well killed off the servos at Bulga.
So do I like driving the putty? BLOODY OATH.
Do I treat it with respect? BLOODY OATH.
Do I have any advice, YEP, the drive to the "10 miler",from Windsor to the halfway cafe is probably the drive you need to drive with lots of care, heaps of off camber corners, no overtaking points to speak of, lots of deceptive corners. The 10 miler ( 16ks of winding flowing corners) is one of those roads best taken at a comfortable pace, plenty of low speed corners and when you get to Fu#KED Truck tree you have just finished one of Australia's best drives.
So take it easy, and most importantly, enjoy and be safe.
Hopefully I might see some MX5's around. Unfortunately I have to come down for a funeral at Minchinbury on Monday, but a good excuse to finally go for a real drive in the Clubby.
