Hi all,

Unfortunatly i wont be coming from the Hunter (cruisin the pacific 9 nites) but did the trip from vineyards down past The Lavender Farm and onto Mangrove Mountain on Monday (public Hol) and it was awesome. Roads leading up to the breakfast and the roads away from the breakfast which ever way you do it will be twisty roads Have Fun,

Would have been there otherwise...... Thou cant wait for the Aniversary Run south in June (booked ready to go...)

Haha I think you missed the point. I'm sure Gerard is capable of finding it himself, he's just a buggar for not joining the club :P

lol. Pretty much sums it up.
Well not being in teh club won me some..well i have no idea, hAts n stuff?? so so far its more advantageous to be not in the club.
I really don't see any advantages of being in the mx5 club unless I was doing supersprints (later in life). SAU on the otherhand...far more worth while, you just have to put up with the arrogant skyline drivers till you beat them.

Come on Sasso, if you have to admit [quote..well i have no idea,] then you should at least give it a go. Where else are you going to get a Club that offers track days, monthly runs, long weekends away, tech events and lunch/picnic days at susidised rates to members for a mere $55 a year? 8)

Midori in particular (and myself) are working at providing greater scope for the young guys on the Forum to participate in Club events. Some of you think the Club is run by old fogies. Sure there are older people in the Club, but the truth is that we have a wide cross section of members that proves that the MX5 has an appeal right across the age spectrum. If you have the impression that these older people are running the Club, you are not entirely right in that. Gossip often gets more credibility than the truth. Okay, I will admit to being an "Old Fart" but I'm in the chair these days because young guys who have all the energy are sitting back and avoiding getting involved. If you think the oldies are running the show, ask yourself this - are you letting that happen with your gear shift in neutral when you could be in the driving seat making the club perform like your MX5:?:

So this note is not just for Sasso, it for all of you non- members on the Forum. People make the Club - any club - so come on guys - join in, get activated, put some MX5 boost into the MX5 Club. You will get more out of it than you put into it.
I'll do better than that, I'll offer you a job, Mine. Then you can really call the shots!

I've been to quite a few club events, they are fun.

Don't worry I'll join when I get a 5.

There is no discrimination in MX5 Club membership. :) There is no rule against Astras and a MX5 can (not must) come later. If Alex has enjoyed the Club events she has attended and sees the advantage of being a member then an associate membership is the go. :?: If Sasso won’t listen & lead then he might be follower and accompany a member to club events.

Gramps [alias Sean MacC] President, MX5 Club NSW

What Gramps says is true. As Club President he is doing his best and giving generously of his time to make changes and get younger MX5 enthusiasts to actively participate. :D A genuine change from the top needs the support of the grass roots.

The grass root enthusiast are not just old farts having a mid to late life crisis  but includes more importantly younger people driving standard or modified cars whose aspirations have not been catered for by the Club in recent years apart from the track days.

I enjoy spirited runs through the countryside that challenge both me and my MX5. I had stopped going on monthly club runs  that to me seemed to merge in with the Sunday day trippers and I found the drives (not the drivers) boring and repetitive with too many or lengthy inconvenient stops. :frown: Instead of accepting the then status quo I started the MX5 BreakFast Club Runs. You can initiate changes if you are a member and enjoy the advantages of membership.

Unlike Gramps I don’t have the time to go on club committees and like Sasso don’t like hats. I accept that without some organisation you will have some chaos and only have respect for those people who keep the show on the road. I invite anyone who is interested in maintaining a special interest group of enthusiasts under the auspices of the MX5 Club with the independence of the Completions Committee to join the Club :?: and contribute to the BreakFast Club concept. :?:

I have organised breakfast runs (not hard to do). Guran, (a club member) has agreed to lead the MX500 in September, a new one day classic drive over the Blue Mountains to the Southern Highlands stopping at Taralga for lunch. There is no reason why the great informal runs organised over the Forum can’t be part of a concept that caters to all MX5 enthusiasts who like to have a good day out. 8) For CAMS and insurance reasons runs under the Club's banner must be lead by a member.

If you are an MX5 enthusiast and are into spirited runs, tech days and/or a good drive at any time of day or at night for F “n” C then consider how much better you could make the ownership of your car by being 'member' of a special interest group of likeminded people. You don’t have to wear a hat, serve on a committee or be obliged to organise any event. Your commitment is your participations in events that interest you just like what happens now on the Forum the only difference being that do your own thing as part of the only club that represents MX5s in NSW.

I think it is a no brainer for $55 a year  and then gives you a chance to influence the direction of your club.
