I'll most likely come to this day, but can't be certain 'till a week or two. If it starts getting full put me on the list.

Yeah. I'm suffering from withdrawal big time at the moment. Can't wait to try out the newly surfaced track... ....a few times :)

Ahhh crap two bad news. One, turbo won't arrive until after the track day. Two, the track day in on monday the first day of uni. NOOOOOO.
I might be able to learn whatever's in the first lecture before the day and see how hard it is etc, shouldn't be that bad: Introductory Digital Systems. Marcus have you done that? I think its also called mechatronics 1, I axed intro to mech and mech, is this much harder?

Did you guys that are goin' want to go up sunday night and book a room so we don't have to get up uber early? 4 bed room ends up at like $35 each. Nice and cheap and well worth it in my experience, the pub is next door so can drink and play pool and then crawl back.

Well, first off I went to Sydney Uni, so I can't help you with it. However, there's probably enough course content that's common that I'd know the subject matter.

Generally if it's an ELEC subject that mech students have to do, it's not gonna be too tricky (at least in the first day of lectures). Having dropped mech, you won't have missed out on anything that's required for this course. If anything, the mech's (and aero's for that matter) will finally understand that being an electrical engineer is just as hard as being a mechanical one.

Anyway, long story short, skip the first day of uni. You won't learn anything that won't be the first chapter of whatever textbook you're reading, and it won't be all that tricky to pick up.

Now, as for coming down, I'm probably gonna skip it. I'm heading to the club track day coming up next weekend. Don't really have the notice to take leave from work, but we'll see how much of an itch I have after the club track day. If I'm craving some track action, I might take leave from work and see if I can make it down. Don't count on it though, so plan without me.

lol not first day of uni ever. First day of 3rd year, at UTS.

Marcus, by axed i ment got a good mark, but its an easy subject. I'm doing electrical, but the subject is shared with mechatronics not mechanical. Electrical is harder than any mech thats for sure.
Problem is first chapter of the text book could be REALLY hard. I'll look into it, I'm sure its not that hard.
You better come down, its cheap as, even Gavin is doing both. I've gotta take you guys on, and you'll need both days to practice :P.

Anyone interested in going down sunday night? It'll make you quicker on the track I guarantee, if not I'll pay for your accommodation.

Yeah, I figured. Digital Systems isn't usually a first year subject. You'll probably have done something a bit more abstracted in second year for it (eg programming a specific chip). If I recall correctly, this will be a much more low level course, working in assembly or something along those lines. Not to mention all the bloody timing diagrams for digital transitions and all that crap.

 Right. It's only been 4 years and already you young'uns are changing the words on me :P
Chapter one is never hard. I don't remember there ever being a chapter 1 that was difficult. However, this was after my efforts of cramming during stuvac, so of course the first chapter is always the easiest when you've studied the all the course content :P
That being said, there's your bit of advice for the day. It might be hard now, but come exam time, you'll wish the entire exam was made up of chapter one content.

Again, we'll see. Unlike certain uni bums I have work to go to on Monday :P
It'll all depend on how I feel after the club run really.

Yea sure I'm up for that. Sounds like the 'long weekend' will be awesome if we do that. :)

I haven't done any assembly language but how hard could it be. I have a few friends that have done IDS and they just passed without putting effort, so I should be able to kill it if I try. IDS is the prereq for ADS (advanced digital systems). When I say 3rd year its more like second sem of 2nd year, im a bit behind due to not doing full load so I can work, and failing a few things. Chaper 1 of circuit analysis IS hard, try a 90% failure rate. I decided I'd go with the crowd on that one, didn't pay off.
I have to work too you know, mx5's don't grow mods.

After the first trackday you will be buggered and not want to come back. Then the next day, you will get a craving and want to come back.
Ok then if you can get a 1:13 at wakefield on the first day then you don't have to come to the second. Thats just about the record for an NA N/A MX5 with R comps on the old surface, the new one is faster so that's your handicap.

Good to hear, Gavin. Any one else want to come down sunday night? Ian are you coming?

Right, so my point is proven really. Skip the first day of uni and go for a track day :P

I know the feeling well enough. After hitting EC at the last Mania day it was all sorts of "damn I should go back and see if I can do any better after a night of sleep".

Hi AJ,

Was thinking of comming but would like to know if it's like the MX5 club days where The club books the track to them selves or will we be participating in an open track day?

reason i ask is cos i went to one the other day and it was dangerous with all the dickheads in there skylines and doff doff sh*t boxes,
some knob in his commodore turned in on me as i passed him and ran me right off the track and into the dirt!!!!!!
