Yeah it was my mate who lost it in the BMW, thankfully no-one was hurt however the car is a write off. Apologies to the club for any inconvenience caused, glad to see you stopped in time Michael. And thanks very much to Regie and Dean who stopped to help out, we managed to get the car driveable and back to Sydney. Hope everyone had a great run

Bite the bullet. You drive an MX-5 so why not support and join the MX-5 Club of NSW that organises this type of event by logging on to http://www.mx5.com.au/nsw/membership.htm Annual membership is less than a full tank of fuel

Hey Micheal , I was about 2 mins behind you at Bathurst thanks to a red light just outside of town , I enjoyed mixing it with the MX5's for the drive and I worked out this is my 30th year on this run !!!

You and Bangers can now apply for the role of Brass Monkeys Patrons Did you notice that after 30 years there are very few Austin Healeys still running the Brass Monkey On the Iceberg Run in August, drive your with a hard top attached to really mix it up front instead of struggling in our wake a few minutes behind in your classic Mini

What's with all the fixed-roof cars? Isn't that kind of cheating?

I helped my uncle when he was restoring a Sunbeam Alpine ! What an experience to ride in that car with the top down ! 1750cc engine, twin carbs and 4 speed with electric ? overdrive.
And the laps of the Mount were nostalgic for me, I used to live in the house off Forest Elbow. I rode a home made billy cart down Conrod until I came off at the bottom before the first hump. I also used to ride my dragster bike to and from school sometimes.
We used to go up to Skyline after the races (Hardie Ferodo 500) and scab for soft drink cans and stickers. Bonus if you found any car bits.
Just after the race we used to sit on the bank at the Elbow and watch the pretenders come off the top of the mountain and lose it around the corner. Used to be just a guard rail with a gully behind it. Tow trucks guaranteed business on race weekends and Saturday nights.
The drive-in is long gone but you can still see traces of it.
Plenty traces of old cars too ! A red Triumph GTS-6. a trio of Austin Healys and some Minis that were going really well. And did I see a two door Dodge Phoenix? Rare.
And the drive going home was interesting, I'd never seen a blondish corner before
What a day.

Video footage taken at Mount Panorama. Includes some drifting by Reggie although its clearly because of the cold damp conditions!
Enjoy

Thanks Michael. Camera was mounted on the nose cone.
Only made it half way up the mountain before it started to fog up from the cold! Buying anti fog inserts this weekend.
