Was good to catch up with Deen and Mark at Wakefield this morning. It was a pretty good day for SOTS with maybe two dozen cars all up. We stayed long enough to see Deen's third run ended early by a R34 GT-R hit head-on into the tyres surrounding the marshall station at the fish-hook! Man he hit those tyres hard - the driver is fine but his car is now seriously "fully sik". That's what you get when you deliberately cut the apex ripple on that turn. On the lap before I swear he had both wheels inside the apex ripple!

Broady broady, you missed an awesome day.
The weather was perfect. The air ccol, the track dry and a great mix of cars on the track.
The usual skyline evo crowd but also a lot of honda power, and shite, those things GO.
Found that hamx5ter doesn't have the pep to outrun a toyota corona on the straight me need boost...
Otherwise, Had a ball, and didn't manage to run into any walls, not even once.

ah great, I was hoping you'd stick to mx5 days so you didn't realise how slow your car was, because now you're going to want more power.....
What times were they doing? I remember the honda boys in their integras, met a few at circuit club day, nice guys, but an mx5 despite being slower on the straight could still beat them! so keep practicing deen!
time yourself...?

Didn't think I was appreciably slower than anyone there, esp. in the twisties... felt a LOT better about my driving; the SS is good The lack of power is obvious though when people shoot uphill past you when they were miles behind on turn 2... and again on the straight (felt I was standing still)... Everywhere else I didn't feel disadvantaged at all.
Didn't get timing, but looking forward to it
The power and the Corona... ok, so hamx5ter can't power away outright like all the others can, but even so, I know (after the fact) that I have enough power to get ahead of the corona on the straight... my exit speed and line out of turn 10 were much better (and it should be ) and if I had the clangers to keep my foot down through turn 1, i'd have enough speed and pace to get more than just the 1 car-length ahead of the corona.. As it is, I lift off before turn 1 and start braking soon after...
So... yes, need more powah, but also need snickers and keep it flat through t1 and brake MUCH later than I do

oh and I was getting a lot of wheelspin on the fish-hook... revs climbing ... I'm hoping that's all cocking an inside leg (to be fixed by LSD) and not slipping clutch?

I have the same thing..
My car has a Vicious LSD, which may not be all that functional??
Thought it may have been a clutch thing, but shifting into 3rd after the fishhook i usually get a little squeak from the tyres so it must be grabbing somewhat decently??
Will be installing a new clutch with the new motor, so will see if that fixes it for me.

Try changing the oil. These thing work, but need decent oil in them. Do a search (including the big board), you should get the good oil ( couldn't help myself ) on them.
I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)
