Good power but when you factor in your fat arse it's not so fast! :P

Imagine I was carrying around a camel hump full of water? I'd have to change the colour of the car too.

You wish! :P

Funnily enough, an auto NA got put on after you left.

It was quite amusing to watch. The power curve was basically flat at I think something like 60kw all the way through the rev range.

65 kw
Better then I thought she would go.
Completely stock, still has the original mazda leads on her.

Just a shame all the power goes through the transmission, rather than being put to the wheels. If you go through with that manual conversion, it should be interesting to see what type of gains you get.

Hi blackster, didn't realise that was you with the SE - seems like a nicely sorted setup...

Don't for a moment think that you actually have 600nm at the wheels... that figure is in need of division by the final drive ratio combined with the gear it was run in if not 1:1 (David seemed to prefer running them in 4th gear rather than 5th for the six speed boxes, not too sure why?). If only we could get 600 at the wheels, and not turn the driveline into spaghetti... and get traction -   8)

So what would be an example equation for figuring out actual torque?

There was another stock 1.8 that was manual and it got 72 kw
So I guess the differance is 7kw

Aj's Yellow beast got 79 kw with headers and intake (I think).

Interesting results, glad I put the car on, as i was not going to due to it being auto.

The manual conversion is very expensive, so I might leave the car as is for now. Only bought the auto as it is such an original car and so cheap.
Will see if the MX5 bug bites, and if so may sell and look for a manual version down the track.
