I caught a few of the slower cars through the corners and then decided to whisk past them down Conrod, and then at the last moment I decided "Nah I'll just hang with the crowd" and then I spotted the trap...must have been my guardian angel looking after me that day!

A big thanks to Phil & Cheryl for a great weekend away, only 1 complaint I can think of...it was sooo much fun it went way too fast for 3 days away! :P

those japanese gardens look beautiful.

what is the deal with mount panorama? can you just rock up and drive the circuit ? and a speed limit applies ? :?

is it a racing circuit or public roads..... i'm confused. i think i remember someone telling me parts of the track are public roads ? ?

Mount Panorama is a public road, anyone can rock up and drive it any time, apart from when there is motor racing happening. The speed limit is 60 km/h right the way around, and the police quite often patrol the circuit (particularly when the MX5 club comes to town :P ), they have been out on Conrod the last few times I have been up there. There are houses around the circuit and a winery and some restaurants, and a lookout at the top.

Also, thought I would post this up too...

Just as we were coming into the circuit I had to wait for a Falcon ute and pulled in behind him. I spotted him number plate and just had to take a photo, it was so appropriate that he was in the middle of a bunch of MX5's. Quality of the photo isn't great, it was a very quick snap while I was driving...

Thanks to Phil and Cheryl for organising a superb weekend. We had a great time - good to catch up with so many of the Sydneysiders.

Going through the esses...

While we were waiting in the garden's carpark with Mr & Mrs Wotsa this lovely machine showed up. We saw it earlier while on the main street and the driver gave us a big friendly wave.

It was very well presented, inside, outside and the engine compartment. The guy had owned it since December and was slowly bringing it up to his standards. He was chasing a clunking and I was volunteered to take a short drive with him to track it down. He was planning on running it at Wakefield Park during the [last] week.

And that SP, dunno, just appeared out of nowhere!!
