Qld Challenge 3-10-09

My wife has convinced one of her friends to navigate for her (as I am busy with other rally related matters) and she has entered our NA8 in the event.
There have usually been a few other MX5's entered in previous years so I'm just curious as to whether anyone else on here is entering?

Cheers,
Rob.

Hi Rob

I put in my entry this morning so I will be there. I did the Queensland Challenge last year and it was great fun so I am hoping for more of the same. My mx5 is a white NA6 called Snoopy. I also think CapitalF will be entering.

Scruiteneering is handy in Brendale but a bit of a trek to QR for a 0700 start.

Nice to have another mx-5 on board.

Cheers Stewart (Carseldine)

The old guard are Mazlot, Ted, DCMAU, Fra66l and Abyss, they were all usually involved in this and to a lesser extent some bloke called RHYSK  go out to the garage and ask his car 8)

Drop one of them a PM, I'm sure they'll have a plethora of info.

Supp Regs and entry form are on the BSCC site.

It's a great event and I'm disappointed that I won't be competing in it this year :frown: .

Thinking about entering this one.
We'll rock up to the information night tomorrow night (22/9) at West End to see what's what. If you're considering entering the event or just want to see what it's all about, I'd strongly suggest turning up to the info night to meet some of the folks and get more information. They're a friendly bunch and more than happy to provide advice or answer any questions you may have.

Also, they are always looking for volunteers to help run the special tests or stage controls if you want to see more action.

See you guys there.

G'day all.

We've just received a request for volunteers to assist with the running of this year's Qld Challenge....

We still need a number of book in and out control officials, test timing and test observers to assist next Saturday
3rd October at Willowbank Raceway - the drag strip form 7am till midday, or Kalbar Show grounds from 9am or
Wivenhoe Dam Spillway Common form 1130am till 1730pm. These events are a nice change of pace from
our usual rally type event and

There will be a BBQ lunch at Wivenhoe for officials and competitors if you would like to partake
and assist at the tests at Wivenhoe.

If you're interested, drop me a PM and I'll pass on the contact info.

Cheers,
T

We did a quick check over my wife's MX5 over the weekend, apart from a wash and to swap some wheels with decent tyres on to it, it's good to go.
I might toddle down to Scrut and say hi if I have a chance, otherwise feel free to give my wife (Peta) in the White hail damaged 5 with hard top as much crap as you wish.

Rob.

Looks like we'll have at least 4 MX5s in the field:
rob323 (his missus anyway)
Capital F
scb
Fra66L

When I last spoke to Saboteur, he was going to line up a Nav (I suggested Boags) so we may have 5 fives in the field.

I'm running my special low grip tyres for this event so it should be good for a laugh!

I spoke to Sab on Saturday night... Unfortunately I'm unavailable for the next month due to an upcoming wedding (and I've already booked some free time for racing on weekend of 10/11 Oct  ).

Hope you guys have a great time on this, I have had a ball in previous years.
I went back through my records and I did it in 2005, 2006 and 2007. I missed it last year due to some conflict with something (can't remember what though) and only regretfully decided a fortnight ago to not do it again this year as I have to finish getting my shopping trolley ready for it's first competitive rally on Oct 17th, it would have been a good shake down event if I had gotten my finger out a few months ago.

What's worse, is I am going to have to appear interested when my wife raves on and on and on about how good it was this year :( .

My wife had a phat time (apart from an encounter with a cop that seemed to be having a "bad day" that also spoke with another MX5), how did everyone else go?

Did anyone else see her attempts at straddling the line at the end of the Wivenhoe stages? I have only heard rumours and have been asked to teach her about brake pedal modulation  .
