Why Sundays'? (Qld runs)

Uhmmm .... is there a reason why runs are predominantly scheduled on Sundays?

I have to skip church everytime I go for a run.

If I skip too many, I may have to call Tom Cruise to save my soul :|

you could alway join the committee & offer to organise an additional Sat Run.
however it would be a much better discussed at you clubs committee meeting which they hold every month

I'm only a newbie on this forum and on the Qld Club.
I don't want to rock the boat too much too early
But point well taken.

I cant believe you need to ask !!!

Saturdays are for SPORT (and shopping)

Sundays are also better days to wear a Cardigan........ apparently.

What Wayne said......and he would know best about cardigans.

Although lots of people work all weekend these days, I think you'll find most clubs plan around Sunday for drives/runs as it is generally the \"doing nothing\" day and there's less traffic about. However, you're welcome to nominate for the committee and/or organise a run.

There will be some skid pan/LVMA days up soon and they are normally Saturday arvos.

Wayne, sitting on your porch on a rocking chair and yelling at kids to \"Get off my lawn!\" is not considered a sport.
No matter how good you are at it.

very valid question Andrew, & i'd only agree with what is above, ie: the MAJORITY of members have Sunday free for club runs.......however, as i'm the Gold Coast Chapter leader, if you have an idea for a Saturday run (or even a Friday night run) that incorporates GC roads & are willing to map out the run, do run notes & lead said run under club rules, get it together & present it to me & i'll look at adding it to our calendar.

The only things i ask are, that you give me (& members) a reasonable amount of notice (a month would be great) & that it doesn't occur on the same weekend as one of our slated chapter runs (GC is the 4th Sunday of every month)...........if you're interested, i can email you a copy of the Gold Coast Chapter calendar so you can plan your run/s date to suit.

same goes for any member out there that wants to plan a run that is within their chapters area, get it together & contact the chapter leader for gods sake, you don't need to be a committee member for that & noone will bite your head off for wanting something different ok?

My whole philosophy during my time as chapter leader is to involve as many members in our activities as possible, i'm here to coordinate & help those doing runs, not dictate what happens & when.......so, don't sit back & whinge about it, get in & DO it, coz i ain't gunna do it for you :P

I don't know if it got past on at the last 'View to Review' thingy.. but can we have shorter runs please ??

More END TIME is more fun.. we hardly got a chance to say hi at the destinations of a lot of runs last year before we had a 2 hour run home.

Anyhoooo.... I'll get back in me box now.

:)

p.s. you do a GREAT job AJ...

it was mentioned & discussed by those who bothered to turn up :P

& if you look at the Feb run Wayne, you'll see that it is split into 2 parts & you can choose to come to one part or both with ample chance to socialise if you wish

& ease up on the flattery son, i blush easy

I'm not having a whinge, and I realise, and agree, more people are likely to be available on Sundays rather than Saturdays, I am speaking up for those who are vice versa.

I would like to help organise some sort of run AJ, but not much comes to mind that has not already been done.

One thing I would really love to do is organise a charity/fund raising run as I am really passionate about my volunteering with Camp Quality.

And Tien, I wasn't too serious about the whole skipping church thing, I'm sure I will find ways to apease the big fella upstairs and make up for it

Here's a couple of ideas for you to work with 1red5..

Meet all the gold coast chapter mid to late saturday arvo down the coast somewhere..take them up and down tamborine plus all the sidestreets finishing at kingston Park Raceway.. if anyone doesn't want to do the mountain part just meet them at the gokarts..

At the karts set a chapter challenge, maybe invite the guys from the mazda forum. I can get an invite out to the corvette clubs in brissie. Hassle the club sponsors for a couple of prizes..

And (NO) i'm already commited to help with a run later in the year but i'm sure that if you ask nicely people will help you work out the logistics of putting it all together.

GOOD THINKING 99!

I remember going to a Go-karts things with the club (as a non-member of course) yonks ago.
I even remember someone was trying to be cool and brought his own helmet, but they wouldn't allow open-face helmets.
Anyone remember who that was?

Thanks Terry.

I take back all the things I have said about postal workers ..... mostly

the MX5 Club Of QLD is 17 years old, there's nothing that hasn't been done, we just like to do it all again with variations

as our club is fairly charity drĂven, (atm there is a year long chapter charity challenge happening with each chapter collecting donations for their nominated charity at each of their runs to donate at the end of this financial year, currently standing at a total of nearly $1400) so to have a one off run that would donate to Camp Quality (an admirable organisation) you'd have to approach the committee (advise any committee member of your request and ask them to table it at the next meeting) i can't see it being a problem personally, (for contact numbers & email addys, see the club website) have you had a good look at the club website?? www.miata.net.au

i'm sure him upstairs will forgive your occasional transgression
