The next club track day is on Thursday 15 November 2007 at Queensland Raceway, Willowbank.

It will be an afternoon session 1-5pm but people will be asked to arrive at 11.30-12.00 to fill out paperwork etc. so we can get on the track when it opens at 1pm.

Cost will be $85 per club entrant and we need a minimum of 25 cars to get it off the ground. We want to try and keep it to MX-5's and financial Club members. The fee for non-Marque Car Club entrants is $95.

I need to know if you are interested ASAP.

If you are interested in attending, please let me know by e-mail at mx5trackdays@gmail.com . We will be looking for some helpers as well for the day so, if you're not interested in going on the track but want to come out and help waving flags etc., let me know.

Please deposit your entry fee ($85 per club entrant or $95 per non-club entrant) into the club bank account:

Bank: Commonwealth
BSB: 064 000
Account No: 10002256
Account Name: Mazda MX-5 Club of Queensland
Reference: \"Your Name\" Track Day

Once you have deposited your money, please send an e-mail to the above address to let me know.

Everyone driving on the day will need a valid QR licence or CAMS licence. Licences will be available from QR on the day. Please do not pay the club for your licence.

If it's been serviced normally, nothing in particular to worry about. Track day sprints are probably no harder on your car than a trip in stop start traffic across Brisbane at peak hour.

What I do:

Check oil, coolant, power steering fluid and hydraulic fluid levels - every week anyway.
Change oil and filter if it's nearly due.
Check brake pads for pad thickness.
Set tyre pressure to 33psi cold and adjust when hot after a run at the track. Pressure will rise by about 4psi after a run.
Take all the junk out of the boot, glove box and cubbies - I've never got any junk in there anyway

The main thing to remember is to go at your own pace and see if you can improve your times during the day. It is not door handle to door handle racing and passing is only allowed on the straights. Cars are sorted in to groups so that they are all about the same pace in that group. Cars go on the track at 5 -10second intervals and there isn't much passing anyway.

Whatever, it's sh1tloads of FUN!!

We should have Doug (drives the V8 supercar experience cars) out there watching over us too. If he has some time free, he'll be happy to go for a ride with you and give you some clues if you want - for free 8)

CHECK YOUR BRAKE PADS. :!:

If they are nearly dead you can kill them very quickly with some stops from 160km/h. :D

Keep spares if they are anywhere near needing replacement.
