[QLD] Karting Details

We are still going Karting, just sorting out the details of a suitable weekend.. ie, one where i can actually attend, since i'll be the poor pleb organizing the thing!
Current analysis of the situation is this...
Kingston Park Raceway
Corporate Sprint Event (Level 2)
1 Practice Session
3 Heats
1 Final
Each session is 8 Laps on the Le Mans circuit (8 laps = 10mins), rolling start with grid positions determined via times. the practice session is not timed. You will have to swap karts after every race so theres no unfair advantage between the karts across the series.
Cost is $90
I need a minimum of 14 committed people in order to get this deal. The maximum number of karts they have is 24. Any more than 24 people will mean we have to split the group into two lots, with a head to head for the top three in each groups final.
The karts are the Pro Karts, a 4 stroke thing, fairly torquey, not to far removed from the 2 stroke karts @ acherfield in terms of performance, their probably not as peaky, but they are not to much slower...
I am currently looking at august for a date, probably the 5th, if not then maybe the 19th (the night before the toowoomba cruise).
If there is any preference between a friday night, saturday or saturday night please cast your vote! (easiest way around it... go democracy!)
Note: This is an open event for any of your mates who want to come.. the more the merryier....

I believe every Friday night at Kingston Park, they have the Friday Night Challenge which is quite popular. If we decide to book it Friday Night, it will clash with this session and we'll have to wait longer between sessions to get back out onto the track.
I would prefer Saturday night over Saturday afternoon as the karts perform better and go faster (cooler temperatures = cooler engines)
Just my 2 cents

HAAAANG ON.
For $90 you can get two sessions at Archerfield Speed Karts on two nights.
For $55 (including getting your licence) on a week night (and it's not too hard to do) we can get in for an early session - be done by 9pm, and have two full races on the Loooooong track.
Electronic timing, good track, good quick karts, and buckets of fun. The VW Club regularly does their club kart nights there, and they are GOOOOOOOD fun.
Why does it have to be a weekend?

because some of us can't flit around during the week like others Uncle Arthur, some of us actually need to run our businesses.......i'd rather pay the extra & be relaxed about it on a w/end myself.......but hey......go & have your weeknite fun, just count me out.

AJ - why don't you ask me what I do and for whom. You will find I also work for myself.
Oh - and by the way - there's a whole bunch of people who also run businesses and can still find time outside of the weekend to do other things.
You don't want to come? - then don't. It's just one more place for someone who does.

I made it a weekend because it is generally the easiest for the most amount of people to come... Myself included.
Uncle Arthur:
I have been to archerfield several times, the two stroke karts are faster, yes, and do probably have a better chassis (Monacco GPIII is the same chassis i had on my ROTAX125 kart years ago...) However, in my experiance the Kingston track and facilities is by far and away more interesting/challenging than the archerfield one, longer track to boot, and the Pro karts, although 4-stroke, are not that much worse than the two strokers. The other factor your not considering here is that for $90 @ archerfield you get two 10min races over two nights (= 4 total), whereas at kingston, for the same money your getting the equivilent of 5 races in one night...
On an aside, does anybody know about the willowbank karts? I know they used to have two strokers, and they do have one of the best tracks in qld, but recently i've heard they dropped their hire karts to 4 strokers...
