35th Anniversary Edition
Anyone on this forum ordered a 35th Anniversary Edition MX5? I'm curious as to how many people frequent MX5 CarTalk and have ordered a new AE MX5.
Mine was ordered 6/1/25 and should arrive about 7th April, so 4 weeks wait now.
I realize the forum is more about the earlier model MX5s but I would like to know just how many current/future owners frequent MX5 CarTalk now.
It's the only relevant MX5 site in Australia I recon.
So give a hoy if you've ordered one.
Anyhow cheers
Mark

Re: 35th Anniversary Edition
I hadn't even heard of this AE. That red metalic paint looks good.
I think we're interested in all years and models of MX-5s here, but people just don't talk about their cars anymore, which leads to people not talking about their cars any more
Be the change you want to see! Talk about your cars! Mort, it seems like you've had a number of MX-5s over the years, maybe start a thread and tell us about your experiences, your highlights and disappointments.

Re: 35th Anniversary Edition
That car looks ... buyable. Tempting even.
Yes, nobody frowns on any discussion that involves MX5s whatever the generation they might be.
The evolution of the car has gone somewhat circular, from very basic and 'pure' NAs, through the slightly more refined NBs, even more comfortable NCs, back to smaller, lighter and more responsive NDs. But they all inspire us with the drop-top, and sparkling handling.
Emilio is building up an ND, I think is more dual-duty HPDE than W2W racecar (track days in our terminology), it is looking like being a decent weapon. And NCs are getting to be the racecar of choice too, supplanting the NA/NB hegemony if MT.net is any indication.
Bring it on!

Re: 35th Anniversary Edition
Thanks for the replies guys, it's encouraging. I ordered a 35th anniversary edition because I liked my 23' GT so much and thought the 35th may be the very last car I own! Another 10 or 15 years driving should just about see me out.
I have never been a fan of black interiors and the 35th interior is a bright tan color which I like, the artisan red metallic exterior is a change, and a near copy of old NA/NB heritage colors.
What I was hoping was that someone / or people who had ordered a 35th AE would frequent these pages and we could share the experience, through the ordering process to the shipping then the arrival.
I was hoping someone would know more than I do about the actual car that is coming to Australia, of course the dealer does not have a clue how the car is configured which is no surprise to me.
The USA cars come with a shock tower brace, a boot lid spoiler and Bilstein suspension and I'm not sure what else, I have a feeling Australian models don't. But I'd like to confirm one way or another.
I'll let you know what I find out, it's only 4 weeks till arrival.
Cheers

There are only 50 allocated for OZ and they are all accounted for!

Re: 35th Anniversary Edition
It's a shame Mazda saves the interesting colours for limited editions, and in such limited quantities. I loved the 30th AE orange, and this red looks pretty special.
And I'm not surprised the dealers are useless, they'll happily take your money though. I'm interested to hear your impressions once you've had a chance to get to know the car.
Like I said, I haven't heard a thing about this version, but I'm not too clued in these days.

Re: 35th Anniversary Edition
10, 20, 25, 30, etc are the traditional anniversary years. 35 is just Mazda trying to sell more cars.

I'm not waiting till the 40th anniversary, I might be in a home by then!
Yes, Mazda are quite successful at selling cars and personally I'm glad they are.
