I have a clubbie with all NA8 (1996) mechanicals. The clutch slave has been replaced recently, but now the master seems to be playing up - first use in weeks the other day it went to the floor with no resistance, and then worked as usual. Looking for a replacement I cant see any that look the same as in pic attached. Any suggestions please?
thanks

Re: NA8 clutch master ?
John, appreciate that you've replaced the clutch slave cylinder recently, but if you haven't already, then the first thing I'd do is check the new clutch slave cylinder isn't leaking into & being retained in its rubber boot, as there were some substandard ones in the supply chain. I also say this as it's rare for a clutch master cylinder to go on an MX5 NA6 or NA8, and the NB8 for that matter. Your clutch master cylinder looks very different to mine, but then mine is an ADM 1993 NA8, whereas yours may be from a JDM N8A (given its been used in a clubby build), & of course it's a 1996 as you say. Bottom line, if it's from a JDM NA8, then it may be more difficult to source here. In terms of sourcing parts:
New parts: Amayama: https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/mazda/mx-5
Of course it may also be possible to find your clutch master cylinder through one of the generic new parts suppliers.
Used parts:
MazFord NSW
Formaz NSW
MX5 Mania NSW
Allmaz Clayton Vic
Automotive Plus Qld (not sure if still offering used parts)

Ex3me on here, (Yahn on o43z5zo657) or mx589 on here (Shaun) as they might be able to help (both are in Melb). Both Ex3me & mx589 usually have cars &/or parts on Gumtree, but from a quick look didn't notice anything current:

Re: NA8 clutch master ?
Thanks for all that info. Parts came from an Oz delivered car, based on the plate on the chassis. Curious part is I queried mx5mania about the m/cyl they show (would it fit) and they said it was a wilwood part, and might not work. WTF?
M/cyl is still full, nothing lost, but fluid is a bit dark. It has cast on it "5/8", assume thats bore in inches. I have a Protex overhaul kit, so I might have to do that, hoping the bore is not damaged. Symptom was it sat unused for 2 months, first clutch press went to floor with no resistance. Second and subsequent uses were fine.

Re: NA8 clutch master ?
John, given your donor car was an ADM 1996 NA8, then the clutch master cylinder in your pic is aftermarket, as the following thread shows the OEM ADM 1996 NA8 clutch master cylinder about 1/2 way down the page, as well as much further down:
viewtopic.php?f=57&t=73956&hilit=1996+na8
The above pictured OEM clutch master cylinder is the same as the one in my ADM 1993 NA8.
Same pics as above but unobscured:

ADM 1997 NA8 OEM clutch master cylinder & aftermarket replacement about 3/4 the way down the page:

JDM 1996 NA8 OEM clutch master cylinder near top of the page:

USDM Miata & possibly other LHD appear to have yet another type of clutch master cylinder:

Re: NA8 clutch master ?
Thanks, I stand corrected. Will look for something similar to the pics.
