Kevlar Hose Failure

BEWARE!!

Five years ago I replaced the coolest water hose in my 1993 MX-5 NA8 system with a Kevlar hose and today I found it has split. The hose I speak of is the one from the bottom hose metal extension to the water pump. The origin Mazda hose was not leaking but was replaced as a precaution because I changed the leaking water pump which was 18 years old. Now I intend to replace the failed Kevlar hose with a genuine hose and probably not worry about it for another 18 years. My car is a standard un-turboed, so the hose was under no extra pressure. Maybe someone on the forum can explain the failure.

Probably just not great quality control at the kevlar hose factory.

Thought you sold the NA8 earlier this year, but then think you had two.

I put the same kevlar hoses on my car at the same time. Earlier this year the lower radiator hose broke - not split or cracked or burst, just became totally brittle and broke like a piece of cheap plastic. It cost me a cylinder head. Not happy at all. It's the least stressed hose in the whole cooling system. I've ripped all the rest out and put in genuine Mazda hoses from Amayama.
