So after missing having a MX5 collecting dust in the Garage I have decided to get another, and after research decided to look to NC's... this time round put focus on low k, and. Service history, found one that ticked the boxes and booked flight to SA to do the deal..
Stock standard 2009 nc2 one owner..
Already ordered and received RX8 wiper stork, to add adjustable time for intermittent wipers and short antenna
Planning coil overs to lower, exhaust, and polishing and cleaning and Bluetooth kit to start...

Big Plans, Little Steps...
Started out with simplest and mod, disconnected the annoying beeper that chimes to remind you to take key out of ignition when door is open.. simple case of removing the three screws under the cover that goes around the steering column by the indicator and wiper stalk and unclip the correct 2 wire connector.. this stops the beeps when door open and key in door, but not the lights on ignition off....
Also replaced the Wiper Stalk to the RX8 unit, with time adjustable intermittent... direct plug out, plug in, Awesome!..
Fitted Xcarlink Bluetooth module, also direct plug in, to give Bluetooth Streaming Audio and Handsfree (Why did Mazda not fit this feature as standard!), so far unit seems to work well, but have only spent 5 minutes with it...
Gave car full claybar treatment and polish, made a lot of difference and glad to find no paint surprises, still need to give interior a birthday... also replaced Battery (original still in from 2009!), air filter and wiperblades for good measure..
Ordered Headers and hoping to buy used Tein Flex from forum member in couple weeks!...

Couldn't resist staying away from here could you?
How do you find it compared to your old SE?

No, always the same when I sell a MX5, hard to find a different car to fill the same spot and tick the same boxes!...
had a few MX5's now, and find it hard to compeer NA to NB and NC, they all have their pros and cons.. I liked the SE, but really happy with the NC.. I always overlooked the NC and thought it was heavier and more disconnected than it is... I was looking for a NB or NA and thought to be fair I should consider looking at NC and seeing the market changing (used ND's entering market and dropping NC prices) as well as NA's going up ( maybe supply and demand, with increased appeal of cheap reg?) and NB somewhere in between, NC made sense on paper and was surprised happy with drive... still plenty of early design in NC and I believe Mazda did a great job of retaining the sprit... so waffle over, simple answer to your question, is I like the NC, but different to SE...

Clean example! If you don't mind me asking, what sort of money did it cost?

Nice work.
The RX-8 wiper stack swap was the first change I made after buying an NC2 last year.
It was very cheap of Mazda to not include that as standard!

Any more info on this? How do you identify the correct connector? I'd love to do this on mine.

The picture above (with ignition barrel) shows the connector disconnected... there are only two in the area and it is the top most one.... there is a tab at the top of the connector to push in before pulling the connector out...

Well done on the purchase, got one the same. Keen to know where you purchased the Xcarlink Bluetooth module and the RX8 intermittent wiper stalk. Agree these are a cheap exclusion on what was close to a %50K new car!!

Not real patient, and once I get a idea I struggle to find my hold button.... googled the buggery out of Tomei and could only find good comments, including from Brian Goodwin on his website and forum.. based on this and that Tomei is a Japanese company making parts for Japanese cars (both car and company RHD) and that the headers and compatable to bolt up to OEM mid pipe, I took a gamble... if I was more patient I likely would have waited till feb when mx5 parts have shipment of Goodwin, but I am not blessed...
Ordered on Amazon and they arrived today, $620 delivered to door....
They look great, with fantastic welds and I believe and hope o2 sensors go in positions they have provided with bungs in place.. time will tell if I brought a expensive wall hanging or a great set of headers, plan to find out time weekend...

Tomei headers fitted! PITA getting the factory "headers" out, but all in all with stop /start to play babysitter, and one trip to repo to get o2 sensor remover socket, all done in good time.... supplied sensor positions seem ok and no error codes... only had chance to take on short drive but certainly feels like more torque, yay
