hey guys,

ive recently made the move away from evos and bought myself a late 2000 NB8B.
when i bought the car it had just had its 200,000k service,
the only mods were KYB shocks and lowered springs

since i bought the car ive added a few things:
-automotive plus rollbar
-extractors
- HI-flow cat
-stainless steel 2.5 inch diff back exhaust
-buddy club p1s
-sparco sprint V seat
-flow design front spitter

plans include
-coilovers
-replace some of the underbody bracing, some braces have been damaged my the car being so low
-engine work, unsure yet which direction ill go yet

hopefully ill end up putting it on the track before the end of the year

Howdy and Welcome!

Have you come across John Provan from QLD and his red Mx5 that he has run in Targa Tasmania the last five (?) years?

hey, its been a while since ive thought about posting anything on here,

a lots changed with the car in the 2 years ive had it,

i decided to buy the engine zozzy1 had up for sale on here and after a while of stuffing around with wiring to get it to fit the NB loom and getting new valve lifters it made 110kw atw, i think theres more to be had but it needs a better intake and im saving up for a set of ITBs.

my brother ended up buying an NA turbo that was going cheap at the start of the year and together we bought a pair of rollcages from AGI, if you buy more than one they give you a decent discount. for the price they are pretty good had a few issues with fitment but eventually got them settled

i entered SA time attack for one of the first events at the Bend early this year and managed a 2:33, which wasnt too bad for one of the lower powered cars at the event,

over the next few months i made 3 different splitters and im still not happy with it so ill probably end up making another. i built an aluminum frame that slips onto the car with only two bolts so its easy to come off the base is 12mm ply coated in resin to keep fluids out

splitter as it sits today

i was bored one day cleaning out my shed and found my old spoiler off my evo 7 and decided to see how it went while i was saving for a decent one,

basically just a few mounts bolted into the sill around the boot and steel uprights and turnbuckles for adjustment, it looks pretty crap but at mallala i went from 1:27 before the spoiler to a 1:24 with no other changes on the same day and had a noticeable effect on cornering speed and under brakes.

i got back to the Bend a few weeks back for a track day and managed to do a 2:24.4 nearly 10 seconds improvement over my previous day there, some of that was i believe the track has gotten faster since my first day there but i like to think that some of it was me.

my next step is stripping as much weight out of the car as i can, and im slowly working on building a new spoiler, i have a 3d printer so im printing the spoiler in pieces and bolting it together, then ill wrap the whole thing in carbon fibre, hopefully works out ok.

this is one piece of the spoiler each section takes about 50 hours to print so its taking a while to get it together
