So I bought this sh*t box. The guy who had it previously bought it from his mate and it was a twisted mix of issues.
This is its story.

So got it home in similar condition to photos. Oil leaking everywhere, wiring twisted together. Stupid kid mods which looked horrible but slowly I restored it.
Problems -
obnoxious exhaust
Oil leak - cas sensor
Stripped boot
Leaking brake booster hose
Dodgy wiring
No stereo
Leaking custom intake.
Bald tyres
No lock nuts
Scratches in the paint.
The list goes on.

So first way I went. Replace all stereo and wiring.
Original splits removed they where corroded anyway. Replaced with alpine splits.
New speedo leds
Rear boot leds.
Aircon leds
New head light globes
New parker lights
Then I set about installing a new Bluetooth stereo. Pretty easy to remove the crap they installed. Reused the water temp gauge in aircon vents.

Next was the detailing. It took forever to bring the paint to good condition. Obviously been awhile since it was buffed

Then I hit the engine up and did some work under the hood to make it a little cleaner.
Rewired and rewrapped the wiring loom.
Painted cam cover stut towers and brace
Build custom intake.

All issues to date have been fixed. Only requirement now is to turbo it and remove the sh*t stickers.
Will get some new photos up on it now.
Obviously I've shortened this but one day ill post all the photos I took along the way.

Welcome. Interesting intake. Hope you didn't cut a hole, especially if going turbo.

Jeo, was your question directed at me or the OP?
I was just stating that the intake will need to be removed and firewall hole filled as the turbo sits on the other side and most people run an airbox from the turbo to behind the headlight.
I also regret cutting my own firewall hole.
The op could have run the piping down from the TB which would have been shorter, prior to ripping off to go turbo.
Each to their own. Credit for being different. Guess I just don't see the merit.

Hole was cut same position as the original mazda badge which you can see moved.
Basically, hole is covered with reattachment of badge with some aluminum on either side. Quite easy. Not a major concern.
My sister has decided she wants this car. I typically build random cars for fun and she has decided it fits her needs. So will not be going ahead with turbo as she won't need a 5 second car. Its fun as it is N/A.
Today I plan to rip the wheels off, polish the lip and spray the centre a white or gold colour. Im leaning toward white but gold will cover the black better. I really don't want to take them back to bare aluminum so its easier this way. Will post photos when shes done.

I considered this car when it came up for sale, but it all got too hard being from QLD. Glad to see it got a tidy up and is back in good hands by the looks of it.
