I have always been a big fan of the mx5 and its nimbleness, never really been interested in high power heavy and unbalanced cars, and after really wanting an NB for the last two and a half years I finally picked up a black 2000 nb8a in November 2015, the car is in pretty great condition considering its done 214000ks, its been well loved by the previous owner who was also an enthusiast and had just bought an ND.
I have big plans for this little car but first of all let me make it clear, I'm not building a track or show car, I'm building a car that gives me joy and a pure driving experience.
Whilst I do plan on doing the odd track/autoX day the car will mainly be used for spirited driving.
I'm going to take a very quality over quantity approach to the build with an emphasis on keeping the car true to its philosophy of a lightweight roadster.
In terms of styling and design the car will be inspired by a wide array of distinctive objects from vintage race cars, 911s and café racer motorcycles to modern day Pagani Supercars.
My basic plan is this...
Chassis -> Wheels/tires -> Suspension -> Brakes -> Power
With a few different parts here and there in between.
Stay tuned big things to come !!
