Wake me up when the 2.5 goes in ...

(Sorry to be a wet blanket, but those wheels are pretty ... ordinary. There has to be some nicer wheels around, or this just me and my taste?)

Thanks Mark. I hope I can make some time to get stuck into it.

I guess you'll be in an indefinite hibernation then! :P

No wet blanket felt here. BBS LM's are my staple diet (apart from Enkei RPF1's)...

As you can see I like consistency and familiarity in my life. So the theme lives on in the ND.

Due to the rarity of LM's in this PCD I highly doubt we'll see another ND with them...which should save your eyes from further harm!

Cheers,
Danny

Danny, I won't try and defend my comment on the wheels, that's my opinion and I am sticking to it. Now, RPF1s, now you are talking my language!!! 8)

What's next, I bet you are not stopping with the wheels?

My reading of the commentary is that the 2l is the same as the NC 2l, ergo a 2.5 (or 2.3) swap is a possibility, at least theoretically. Having looked at the ND (thanks Jean) at Eastern Creek today, and noted the rear mounting of the engine (behind the front axle line) I don't know how feasible it might be in practice, but I am sure someone will try it (if my premise is valid).

MX5 2.0L is also a further enhanced version of the 2014+ Skyactiv motor first avalable in CX5. Now also seen in 2.5L form in CX5, Mazda 6, Mazda 3. Expected to be seen in 2.5L turbo form in replacement for CX9. If a turbo 2.5L ever happens in the MX5 that'll be a real sports car rather than the sporty car the 1.5L and 2.0L are supposed to be.

Likewise! I'm a creature of habit.

Tyres tomorrow. Suspension and exhaust by the end of the month.

Both the 1.5l and 2.0l are Skyactiv G engines which means direct injection. So it's highly unlikely a capacity upgrade from 2.0l to 2.5l using the previous FoMoCo engine series that the NC had would be possible. However, the Skyactiv G 2.5l from the CX-5 and Mazda 6 might have legs.

Cheers,
Danny

Danny, there is a statement on the big board by Dynotronics that a 2.5 swap is on the way. Your guess is as good as mine as whether that is next month, next year, or something else (or even not at all).

ETA: I think I misunderstood some of those references to 2.5 swaps, the chatter seems to be about swapping the engines from the SA powered Mazda 3s and 6s (not the previous generation 2.3/2.5 engines), and that is what seems to be underway over there.

Everything about the gap between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch looks "not sporty" to me.... not sure why manufactures think the AWD clearance is a good look and if someone tells me that maybe the ND owner want's to drive quickly over speed bumps at shopping centres then I'm gonna vomit !

LMs are ancient. Don't suit the car. Looks terrible with the raised height. Would be good to get feedback on original setup.
