Phillz91's NB8B

Postby phillz91 » Mon Mar 16, 2015 6:25 pm

Figured I would do a little introduction here.
Greetings from Townsville, Far North Queensland :)
I have recently picked up a completely stock Crystal Blue NB8B for use as a daily so I can throw even more cash down my money pit that is undergoing some surgery, both elective and compulsory.

I wasn't really looking at MX-5s all that much when looking for a daily, most of the ones I liked were out of my price range, but I came across this beauty and decided to stretch my budget a little purely for the colour of it and ended up picking it up for a pretty good price in quite good condition, only 138,000kms.
Have owned it for a few weeks now and plan on keeping it mostly stock while I figure out where it's weaknesses are and what I need to modify. So far the headunit/speakers needs to be updated, the standard CD player just doesn't cut it anymore :P
Aside from that, some nice rims, sticky tyres and some lowered springs (to maintain ride quality) are next, also looking at getting a more supportive seat and looking at a 3.9 ratio Torsen further down the line to upgrade the standard 3.6 open diff. Coming from a owning FWD and AWD cars the unexpected oversteer is something I need to get accustomed to as I am far too used to powering through corners :P

I think I saw a post from you on facebook a little while ago asking about what you should do regarding a daily on top of your GTiR. Good to see you found something you like.

Do you reside in Townsville Trackphotos? Don't know of many other NB's, or MX5s in general, round here :)

Nah I'm down around Brisbane, I'm sure there are quite a few members up there though.

I almost bought this car!!! Haha, I probably still have the gumtree ad saved somewhere. The only thing stopping me was the colour - I like it a lot but I have just come from a silver car and wanted something stronger (/wanted white wheels :P). So nice pick up :)

I am also getting used to the unexpected oversteer :P
