Replacing the Cam Angle Sensor NB8A (Series 1)

Hi all,

After thorough searching of this and Miata.net forums I'm pretty sure I need a new CAS for my NB8A...

After a long-ish drive the car splutters in any gear at over 3500-4000 rpm (early on it does not)...

So I've ordered one and was wondering if there are any tips in replacing? I've got a workshop manual on CD ROM so must be in there I guess?

Assume this is the bit I need to unbolt...(circled YELLO - this is my actual engine bay)

yeah, Cam angle sensor is literally a 2 minute job.

Remove the plug on it (press the release part and pull)
undo the one bolt, from memory it's either an 8mm or 10mm
put the new sensor in place
put the bolt back
put the plug on
done.

The area behind the plug is dry (just cam belt and gears, no oil etc) so there's no gaskets or anything to worry about.

Also, is that a stock photo? or one of your actual car?
THe engine bay on it is mint, looks like it's fresh from the factory.
