Bear's White NB8B Turbo "Snowie"

Hi All,

So after not doing a garage thread for Scooby, I am going to do a good one for Snowie as its not really a car yet, more like a collection of good bits that need mating up.
It started life as CT's car for the first 10 years of its life then:

CT sold it to bender in Nov 2010
viewtopic.php?f=73&t=44432

bender put it up for EOI in Jan 2011
viewtopic.php?f=73&t=45493

bender sold to jdimitri in Apr 2011
viewtopic.php?f=73&t=46573

jdimitri put it up for sale again in Sep 2011
viewtopic.php?f=73&t=48976

Changed hands one more time then Nathan (Oztrackdays) made it into Monda.
viewtopic.php?f=57&t=63786&hilit=Monda

A decision was then made to transplant the Honda motor into a Nathan's other track only NA, leaving a pretty well sorted NB with no motor.
Thanks here must go to Lou for putting me in touch with Nathan as he knew I was looking for a white car for a engine transplant.
I was actually looking for a white NA but after looking for 3 months I couldn't find one for less than 8 grand that was suitable/good enough to use. I'm fussy and old, so give me some slack here. The main problem for me was even though I found some pretty nice NA's, they all would have needed new suspension, a decent diff, new exhaust and a 6 speed, bumping up the price to pretty close to SE prices.

So here was my first sighting of Monda, minus the Honda engine as it was getting some work on the bottom end done at Benny's (BYP Racing)

After about 4 weeks worth of procrastinating by both parties with nothing substantial to show for it, I had almost given up on the whole project and was sure Nathan had decided not to sell me the car. One night around midnight I get a pm. SOLD TO YOU was the heading. To say was shocked was a understatement. It came with the Hardtop an AGI hard top gage that I got taken off, and a brand new set of MCA Reds. (Nice one) I will let you know how good they are as soon as it is drivable.

I had always wanted a white NB and was ever so close to buying Gerard's SP but it was just too expensive. I will try to make this car even better

Here is the engine going in. Neils cracker of a SP race motor. viewtopic.php?f=44&t=64366&hilit=fruit

Behind that is Yem11n's SE 6 speed and Torson diff. Thanks Yem11n/Lou.

All that needed now is to put it all together. Swap the registration on it to a NSW with the turbo engine and drive it…..hopefully on the black stuff, but as my driving experience is limited at best. This should be very interesting.

Richard.

The period of 2011-2014 it was owned by a rather busty maiden in Melbourne
she was only 18 when she bought it, her partner does not have a manual licence and she
was sick of having to do most of the driving around Melbourne.

Was it the one with pink plates and coilovers?
I remember a white one advertised on the VIC club website.

Should have kept the car and traded in the partner....

Thanks Nathan, I wasn't sure how to put the "busty maiden" in there, so glad you did. :) :)
Wheels going on are 15 x 7 Work Meisters which I picked up on Gumtree for $600 with new Yokie AD08r's 205 x 50 from Don Cornell's at Bexley for $175.00 each.

I'm taking the Brown Davis out of Scooby and sticking that in Snowie and a nice pair of Sparco's with Willans 6 point harnesses. That I have had for ages.

If they turn out to be a bit uncomfortable I have zossy1's lovely NB8B seats in it at the moment.

Another picture minus engine and gearbox next to Scooby

Those wheels and tyres are for sale for the stupidly low price of $150.00 viewtopic.php?f=44&t=65887
At this point we found out that the NB8A Haltech engine loom that the motor came with doesn't work with in an NB8B..WTF..
Haltech make one for the old SPORT ECU which he said is the closest you will find for a plug in loom for the ECU/NB8B so Its about $600 and we still have to mod some of the wiring and make a serial connector for it. :( :( :(

Adding a bit of bling is always a good thing so got this polished by PK Metal Polishing and it came up a treat. Thanks john.

Yuk. Why use the haltec then? They seem to create nothing but dramas between yourself and Dave more.

Haltech is the easiest solution at this point in time. Might not be the best option but would be a shame to have to go through all the set up dramas of starting from scratch. If it turns out to be crappy can I always sell and choose something else but my PS1000 in Scooby is almost perfect now and Ben at Port Hacking Auto who tunes it is pretty comfortable with them.
