Last Thursday I changed the battery on the MX-5 and now the radio doesn't work. It is displaying ERR. What can I do?

Most likely it just needs the pin code input. Do you have the original car handbook? Usually the pin code is on a business card in that on most cars I've owned. Not entirely sure on the mx5.
This also belongs in the electrical forum.

If it has the original radio then the pin will be the last four digits on the chassis number.
You only get three go's to type it in correctly.
Happy to flick you a pic from the manual if you don't have yours?

Not sure if it is the original radio, but I'm only the third owner. I'm about to try your last four digits of chassis number and see what happens. Thanks for your help.

There is some sort of special button sequence that will unlock a locked radio. Had the dealer do it for me once after a service.
A bit like an MX5 konami code

Thanks everyone for your respective inputs. Today we plugged in a diagnostic disputer and tried everything from America to England and everything in between. All to no avail. I'm spewing about this. It's my car, my radio. Why should I have to pay a bunch of car sellers to get the code which is rightfully my property? It's called ownership. They say the code is there to protect the owner from losing the radio by theft. Well it might as well have been stolen as I have no radio anyway. Totally pissed, Marko.
