Hey guys, I'm new around here as well as new to MX5s
this site is really great in regards to information and the people are all friendly,
so I'm very happy to be here and have to decided to make my first build thread ever!

BACKGROUND:
My names Tim and I'm currently studying Commerce at Deakin Uni & working part time in Harbour Town Docklands.
I've got an extensive background with Nissans (s-chassis) so the move to MX5 has been really different!

First car :
- 90 Nissan Silvia S13
short story; blew the motor after 2 weeks, over a few months dropped in a S15 SR20DE, s14 box, hks extractors, coilovers, locker and a few exterior bits and pieces.
First cars always the best and i'll always miss her :(

Image

After I sold her I bought a S14, then bought a 180sx shell with another S15 SR20DE and dropped it into the S14 and sold that for a nice profit. With the remainder I bought a S13 KSeries turbo and built it for drifting and took it to a Calder event where some idiot smashed into me :(
Ended up swapping that for my current car: MX5 which was previously owned by a fellow forum member Henry/Dorifuto.

Here she is ::

Image

1990 Mazda NA6CE MX5
Non Power Steering with Air-conditioning model
Engine:
- Aftermarket Extractors
- Cams
-Block has been shaved
- Tuned for those mods
- Aftermarket exhaust
- Water Pump, Timing Belt and Fan belt been changed ( 9/3/2011 )

Suspension & Handling:
- Racing Logic Coilovers
- Cusco 4 Point Cage
- Brakes have been overhauled and new pads
- Front Strut Brace

Wheels:
- Stock Daisy with good fronts tyres and not so good rear tyres
- ROH 15x6+45 wheels with Bridgestone Potenzas 002

Misc:
- Factory Hardtop
- Factory Front Lip
- Welded Diff

After taking ownership from Henry
I really fell in love with the car and how it feels.
Found every excuse to drive the car and clocked close to 700km's average a week!
Roof on/Roof off ~ awesome experience!

Also entered the Melbourne S15 Clubs Winton Track day on the 15th of September
and managed to do a 1.56 for my first time at a grip event.

Some pics from the event:

Future Plans:
- Ordered new coilovers "Yellowspeed Dynamic Pros"
- New wheels *STAY TUNED*
- Fresh Paint
- t25/t28 turbo setup
- NB brake upgrade
- NB diff upgrade

Thanks for reading big things popping in the coming weeks :)

Well done Tim and welcome :)

I saw this car for sale and thought it was a pretty good buy. Funny you're the one who scored it!

Looks like it's had its far share of goodies on it, excited for the future!

Mid-update ~ a break from Exam preparation !
Late night studying is sending me mental so heres an update!

please excuse INSTAGRAM pics as my SLR doesn't want to read the memory card anymore :(

Car is currently not running for over a month now :(
After Winton my diff sh*t it self.
Reasoning : Brand new Potenza re0002 all round + drift = blown diff -___-v

Currently sits with my friends KE70.

On the upside:
- Purchase of NB8C diff from Yahoo Auctions. $450 delivered. Could not justify paying over $1000 for a NB set up..
which includes drive shaft, halfstubs and diff (practically everything.. I hope) EST 10weeks delivery.
Aaron @ Import Monster is sorting that out for me!

-Purchase of NA6 Diff for temporary run around until NB upgrade arrives from JLAND, thanks to NitroDann,
Arriving later this week.

-Payment and Order of Yellowspeed Coilovers via Wholesale Suspensions in Sydney

-Payment made for Wheels :) EST 6 weeks delivery from Japan

-A few goodies arrived from Japan

That's about it for now. Exams are over on Wednesday and I can't wait to piece all the new bit's together !!
Missing roadster life hard!

Your mx5 is really similar to mine in modifications. What is your engine specs? Camshaft size, duration, lift, etc.. How much is the block decked and how much power are you making at the wheels?

Unfortunately unsure! But I hope to maybe try find some specs in the near future once I get a chance to speak to the previous owner again!

Nice clean car mate!

I also migrated from a S-Chassis, S15, and very happy with the decision.
