Hey all - time to start my thread for Ruby. She's the 1993 MX-5 that I acquired from Matt Taylor on the auspicious date of Friday 13th.
Pretty much stock so far. We shall see how long that lasts. So far I love everything about her.

With two laps to go then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is.

The '93's till September were 1.6, October on, 1.8.
The 93 1.6 NA's had the same beaver panel (between tail lights) as the 1.8's.
I had a 93 Limited Edition. Original cost was close to $50K with the hard top, BBS wheels, air cond., leather, six stack CD. etc. Luckily I bought it second hand. Great way to enter the MX5 fraternity.

Re: Ruby
Congrats.
Yes, with the acquisition of Ruby... we now have 3 MX5s in the driveway plus all the other cars. For those that don't know, Jojoeffe lives with myself and HKS_Kansei.
It's like collecting all the McDonald's Happy Meal Toys.
Props to Matt Taylor for a well sorted MX5. I drove Ruby to work today and she felt wonderful and very together. Kind of weird having so much vision with standard sized mirrors and no roll bar with padding. :p

Re: Ruby
Thanks all
I've been slacking off and only just back into the forum.
Of course with the gorgeous weather we've had the last few weeks, the slacking off has involved a fair bit of driving around with the top pushed back and Ruby providing free hair-styling. So *that's* why people say it's a hairdresser's car ;)
So far I have loved every moment except when someone backed into it about three days in and left the panel behind the driver's door pushed in. I wasn't there, so hello panel beating as my first "mod".
Pix to follow. Need to read how to post them.
Zcoots - Ruby suits them

Pics of the weathershield repair
Old vs new - I needed a couple of the clips from the old strip. It was fairly stiff with age, but I convinced it to yield with the tyre iron.

The top of the door with the seal removed from the outside. It was a bit grubby in there.

I may have been using the soft-top as my work surface. You can see the difference between the old and new quite clearly here.

It wasn't that difficult to do. I did snap one of the yellow clips, but since each new part has one that is no drama. I will have more clips left than I started with. I'll do the passenger window another time - it's not as bad, it was getting dark and I was thinking it might rain.
The broken bit of the yellow clip fell inside the door. I took off the skin, taking the opportunity to clean it properly and noticed there's a few dodgy screws. I bet the damn thing will rattle in there as I couldn't get at the inside of the door due to the lovely plastic that's stuck on with that nasty black gunky stuff.

Doing it wrong... Don't put links in your build lol. Use image tags and actually have the pics displayed in your thread!
