my NEW (old) nb mx5 (nitro dann inspired)

Postby hb » Wed May 23, 2012 1:20 am

sup guys, so im finally in a mx5 after an eternity of day dreaming about owning one. heres my slow build thread as the nb is quiet nice as is BUT that feeling never lasts
heres what it looks like atm
Image

it came with a few goodies being
koni springs and adjustable shocks
adjustable sway bars front and back
mx5 mania CAI
full stainless steel exhaust (including extractors)
15x7 enkei rpf-1s

i think once i sell this hardtop id like to get a butterfly brace and roll bar. im a chassis rigidity nut and love nothing more than building a good base. i will get deeper into modification when i find a decent job and my 'daily driver race car' project is complete. it can be found here if youre interested
http://forums.mightycarmods.com/showthr ... su-charade
spoiler: its 1 seater, 700kg, road registered, engine swapped blah blah. dont get me started, i absolutely love it. no one deliveres pizza like me

the first time i drove a mx5 was maybe 6 months ago. i was in my stripped out 121 at the top of a mountain when dan pulled up in his even more stripped mx5. we chatted for a while and he let me drive his car. id always loved mx5s but now i had to have one. if youre reading this not sure if you remember me mate lol, but that drive left a lasting impact

it may start slow, but hopefully this thread will blossom into a half decent build

Welcome and congrats
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I'm having one of those "everyone knows everyone in Newcastle" moments...

Also, "nitro dann inspired"? Be careful, his ego is big enough already. :P

Ahhh...I know what you mean! If I could have found a cheap MX5 (>$3K), I would have done the same.

Paul F called me the other day and said "Hey Dann, have you seen a totally stripped out charade around here?"

I said, "No, did it have windows?"

He said "Yeah still had windows"

I said "Phew, I am still king."

But seriously he did spot it and call me!

Don't know if I would bother with the bfb having fitted one.

Did you not see much of a benefit from it?
What other bracing do you have?

Boss from arms and the frame rails make the biggest difference.

Stripped out is an understatement

I was at that meet too! I turned up at the same time as hb; Dann and Bryan (Muzdaman) turned up later too. I probably walked straight past you and didn't know who you were!

Spoke briefly in a small group about the legals of certain parts removals.
I was the guy who picked the coilovers as being yellowspeeds.
I was in an EVO rather than an mx5 last night.

I'm not particularly memorable.

I was laughing at all the other EVO guys saying 'that dude can steer, couldn't shake him and he was in an effing 121 on my ass down sugarloaf'.
