tobys na6

Postby tobias » Sat Nov 19, 2011 10:17 am

alrite so i thought i would finally do a build on my car after reading all the other builds on here, it all started when i drove my cousins na6 and loved it, i decided to try to find one in my budget (apprentice wage)

i finally came came across this little beast,

my first mod was the carbing roll bar, i picked it up cheap from mx5center

i ended up getting a cheap set of suzuki swift alloy wheels and decided they needed a little love so i got them powder coated

so thats where i am now, not sure whats next but im sure there will be something,
sorry about the sh*t quality photos i used my phone :)
thanks for reading.

at this time i really wanted a gv lip but i always thought the price was a bit steep for what it is so we decided to try make our own lip, we came up with this. Only cost us $10 and made us two lips so we were fairly happy with that.

next up was an exhaust, id gone to allmaz to have a look at what they had and after having a good chat he showed me this, im not sure of the brand but it says jasma so who cares :) haha only cost me $250 so i was happy

nice and rusty underneath

after a few months on bouncing around on stock suspension i ordered a set of megan ez street series coilovers from gomiata, i havent got any pictures of them, there standard looking coilovers i guess.

this is the height i ended up with for a while

next was a proper set of wheels (almost proper anyway) 15x8 -0 rota grid v

i left it like that for a while and i was fairly happy with it, but i think as just about everyone here ill never finish modding this thing so i next mod was a carpet center console and re-trim my door panels, i also bought a nardi wheel from allmaz at the same time,

as i said ill never finish with mods so after that was a cheap gv lip a friend found for me,

some photos with ben sale

so the car stayed like that for a few more months but my guards were never the same, after a few bumps the wheels re-shaped them nicely so i decided to buy some flares, after alot of searching and looking at photos of wheel sizes matched with flares i decided on some autokonexion version 2 30mm flares,

i was worried about fitting them but a friend convinced me he new how to do it, so we grabed a cutting wheel and went to town.

this was a scary moment, the first hole.

Thanks, not sure what my future plans are, probably some more DIY goodness and maybe some bracing, going to start some track work next year so I'll have to get it ready for that

Does the Carbing bar go to the floor behind the seats and through the parcel shelf to the boot floor?

I had one like that in my last car, the reduced seat travel meant i wasn't comfy with it in there.

I reckon your old man and mine would think the same thing's about our cars haha.

Yeah it's the 6 point, the bars behind the seats Don't restrict
Me too much just the perfect amount, my dad actually doesn't mind my car now. He hated it when it was couple inches off the ground cause we couldn't drive anywhere, but I've raised it now so all is good

Didn't think that the swift wheels would look that good on your car. Good stuff!

I think your cage might only be a 4 point. My Mazdaspeed cage is 6 point and goes overhead.

Today on my day off I decided to play around the the car, I was undoing or trying to undo the wheel nuts and I remembered last time I used my rattle gun with deep impact sockets to do them up, in this attempt I was using a wheel brace at home and the brace isn't quit deep enough and only grips on half the nut,
This is what happened

Image

So I ended up going to work chucking my car on a hoist drilled out the nut and stud and fitted a new stud that I bought from Brighton Mazda ( cheap only $8) I had some spare nuts at home so that was fine.

Scariest part was as I was driving to work there's was an RBT on beach rd, as I was getting pulled over I was what they call shitting my self, I had a set of 1 inch wheel spaces sitting on my passenger seat, my cars definitely way too low my wheels are too wide with shitty stretched tyres and flares, I was very confused when they said have a good day and let me in my way, my sh*t day could have been a lot worse haha

PS. are your door cards suede or alcantara and where'd you get it? I'm planning something similar-ish.
