BB Racing - floda and his latest MX5

The latest MX5 to find itself parked in the garage is a July 1998 NB8A - Black with H'top. 125,500 klms and no obvious issues when collected last week. The previous owner suggested an oil change and filter and new rear brakes immediately and fronts at 130,000 klms. I have hawks for the front and rear going in next week and Anglomoil - Roadmaster 200 API SM, SL & SJ, CF with filter for the engine.
I think the centre muffler has a loose baffle and thats all I can find so far. New radiator, window wires, AC works well. H'top is clean and in good condition.
Should be fine for a first timer visit to WP in October.

YES HP+
Only std disks at the moment, not sure how I will go at a track day. All a bit of an experiemnt but reading about the exploits of Hammer and Guran it it time for me to try it out.
The tyres are some Sumitomo items that will need replacing after one WP outing I am sure.

Sounds like almost the perfect preparation for a first track day: fresh oil, good pads, stock standard car and tyres that you don't mind destroying.
Main thing missing is a quality wheel alignment (search this site first). Would be worth checking age of gearbox and diff oil and changing brake fluids too.

Thanks for that, brake fluid change is included next week. Stu at Spinning Wheels to be contacted for an alignment. I will have a check of diff and gearbox oils as well, thanks for that suggestion.

You should have no hastles with that brake setup as long as you fully flush the brake fluid with good stuff. Dont forget, its the fluid in the caliper that needs to be the good stuff, so you need to bleed a whole bottle through it if it hasnt done for a while.
See you there, hang on... What event and date is this? Just a clubday at wakefield?

After the wash shot, hard to see the improvement in them but well worth the $ to get it done properly.

Did the oil change and started the brake pad replacement. Got to the left rear and found a bent slider pin. A minor hickup as we chase the pin $15.00 and pressed it all apart. The rear bracket appears to be OK so we will finish the job next week now.

All done - the next step after test drive to Gosford and hopefully some WP days are;
New rotors front and rear - DBA standards for the front and MAZDA OEM for the rear, tested at 1mm over minimum size when replacing the pads and there is a slight shimmy from the front end
New tyres - most likely after 3 WP days - Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs reccommended by Guran
New oil and filter
New shocks - nothing special but "in the spirit" of the vehicle so no coilovers etc

Stainless brake lines installed today. The locking front left caliper has gone away now and the car pulls up in a straight line.

Great car Floda- i like what you've done.
Whats this business about coilovers not being in the spirit of things though ?
