Well, thought I'd post some pics of our new child. 2005 Mazdaspeed Miata with 41XXX miles on the clock.

In the hands of the previous owner she's won 2 national SCCA events! He's now competing in his 2005 Corvette Z06(at least I think it is). Good bloke and loves his autocross.

Mechanically he's looked after her well but leaned on her hard (14 to 15 psi - 8000rpm redline on stock internals  ).

Cosmetically it's straight with no previous accident history but it's had a crap respray and I don't think detailing was a priority for this car :(

It's also running a 5 speed box as the 6 speed shat itself. The original engine spun a bearing due to a lack of oil. We'll be collecting that in the next few weeks. The rebuild will be our winter project. All going to plan, the rebuild will be done by end of May and the new motor goes in in June. Not sure of parts to be used yet but the aim is reliable 8000rpm redline and 16 lbs of boost!

Picked her up 11/08/11 with the OEM ECU injectors and other stuff attached in order to pass the OBDII inspection. Tripped a code and the CEL came on 20 miles after getting my hands on it. Had to drive around and do all sorts of crazy stuff to get the codes showing ready. Got them ready, passed the test and the following night on the way home, she tripped the codes again!! Good thing the stock stuff goes into hiding for the next two years until the next inspection is due. Hopefully by then I have a friendly tester!

Today the return to mod status is complete. All fluids have been changed over front to rear except clutch/brake/power steering.

Lots of fun things discovered as I progressed but I'm happy now it's all together the way the boost gods intended.

Mods include;

Hydra Nemesis ECU

RC 550cc injectors with plug in clips

Cold Air intake with inlet upgrade

Flying Miata front sway bar with FM end links

Not sure yet. The roads are savage here and I haven't even checked the settings yet. There's a LOT of straight highways and not much else in my daily commute. There are some corners around here but I'm still trying to get used to the car.

There's one on ramp I hit in TheMissus MS3 that I can successfully take at least 5 MPH quicker in this ( ~40MPH maxed in the MS3, around ~45 MPH in the MSM).

I think the AFCO's come from FM with 350lbs springs. She's running 850lbs springs all the way round. Getting the set up right will be trial and error for now and that's a "mods" down the list. Winter will be here soon and she'll get jacked up to 4X4 status to clear the snow that they can't prepare for.

I can however report that a 540i BMW stands no chance on the highway 8) . It just so happens that tonight I ran into the same local with a BMW 540i with exhaust at least. We previously met in the MS3 and it was neck and neck(from 60 to at least 120 MPH). In the MSM, I had 3 car lengths on him in 3rd, about 5 in 4th and after that we both backed off 'cause our detectors were going spastic  .

You know the stuff you see on youtube with the beeping of horns for a highway run? That isn't made up!

I'm beginning to enjoy the US of A!

I should add that she's now running ~11psi. It was dyno'd at 253 at 12.5psi so I think a safe guess would be 240 rwhp in OZ dyno's.

I'll leave it there for now until the rebuild is complete.

Cars are a lot cheaper in the US. Firearms are also legal (don't know which states).
