rob's 98 NB
Hi Everyone,
Thought i would start a build thread on my mx5 since my parts have started coming in.
My main use for this car will be a weekender and track/drift.
Picked the car up about 2 months ago after selling my accord euro for something that was RWD. I started looking for s13 couldn't find anything that was in half decent condition and also N/A ( P plater).
After about a month of looking i found nothing, my brother said to look at a mx5 i didn't think much of them at the time until i took one for a test drive, the handling is just amazing so much fun to drive !!
After i test drove a few i found the one, had it inspected all came back good and i processed to put a deposit down.
98 NB8A
12XXXX on the clock

hardtop
I have had the car for about a month now and parts have started arriving.
I have already installed my full exhaust system :
RS*R exmag gt2
xforce headers
2.5 inch mid pipe
resonator
high flow cat
As well as my Sparco sprint, Yellow speed premium comps and my xxr 002
Currently still need to install :
OMP Corcica deep dish steering wheel
NRG Short hub
D1 spec quick release
i-concept reinforced tie rod [just arrived]
cheers

Nice. What are the specs on those XXR's? And that exhaust looks really low to the ground near the back there. Is it really that low or is it a bit of an optical illusion?

The XXR are 16X8 +0.
And yeah does hang very low to the ground lucky for stiff dampers of it would scrape when driving on sydney roads!

Looks tough. That exhaust wouldn't last 2 minutes here in SA. Car would be defected in no time.
Cool car though fella.

Re: rob's 98 NB
Big update start of the year i purchased a turbo kit off a member on this forum who advised me it was a "bolt in kit", after having alot of issues with the bolt in kit where the piping for the intercooler was all incorrect, dump was hitting the gearbox aircon had to be removed in place for the intercooler a lot of money and custom fabrication later here how it is looking. Big thanks to Suli(mxnx) defiantly recommend him for any fabrication you need done.
Got over the whole "stance" thing and just want to drive the car like it should be dríven so :
Picked these up 15x9 with 225/45 Toyo R888
how it sits
After everything was installed i started having issues with the megasquirt i purchased, was getting alot of over fueling that no one was able to help me with and kept telling me it was an injector issue, one of the best choice was getting rid of it for a haltech !
And this is where the car currently is, tuned by micks motorsports for 12psi on E85.
You can really feel the increase give by the e85 especially mid range torque
NB8A stock
T2554

3 "inch turbo back
Intercooler
850 cc injectors

Haltech ps1000 ecu
