Muncher's NA8

Hi guys,

My name's Simon, I've recently acquired a NA8 MX5 (95)

It's had a little bit of work:

-BC Coilovers
-Work Equips 15x8
-Bride Pro's seats
-Skunk 2 weighted gear knob
-Nardi steering wheel

I have a nice big list of things that I want to do to it! I've just ordered a set of upper and lower gear boots. I'm in the process of installing a PC tablet into the double din space as to act as a head unit, do a bit more stereo work (I'm a noob when it comes to audio but I'm learning!). I'm eventually going to buy one of 'lightyears' carbon hartops (if he still makes them!). When I finish uni (hopefully in a couple of weeks) I'm going to start planing a nice NA build (itb, cams, zorst, etc)

Problems so far:

- a fairly loud whine ( I think diff ) I'll see if the upper and lower boots help in noise reduction!
- I want to change my seats. They're fix back atm and I'm really short (170~ cms) so it makes getting in and out a pain in the a$$!

I've done a lot of searching on what seats fit into MX5, but I can't find much at all! I've narrowed my choices down to a set of Bride Euro II or some Raliart colt recaros (but i'm fairly sure the recaros won't fit!) Maybe some of you guys can help!

Anyway, love the forum! Glad to be here!

Cheers!

Black NA8 = very nice. Was this owned by a forumite? There's not many around.
As for seats, have you seen the Mazdaspeed seats?, a few forumites have them, several colours and a few different styles of reclining ones.
And yes, generally speaking, a reclining Recaro has little chance of fitting, unless you go way back to late 80's early 90's models.
I really like the Peugeot 206 GTi180 seats but have no idea if they will fit, I know a WRX seat won't fit.

Great looking car you have there! It looks very well sorted.

You should not have any trouble at all selling the seats, they are very rare.

Very nice.

What seats do you currently have?

Thanks for the kind words guys! :D

Current seats atm are Bride Pro's: See above ^ They are great seats, just not really suitable for a daily driver! Seatbelt is an issue as the seat is just about all the way forward  it pulls really tight and is annoying! plus entry and exit out of the car is hard!

I've done lot's searching around, found out a whole heap, but nothing about these Bride Euro II. From the looks, they look about the same through the shoulders and dont have the high sides (to make access easier in/out) but then again, a lot of seats don't fit so I won't get my hopes up!

1red5: Yep I've had a look at the mazdaspeed seats, but I just can't find where you can buy them, none on e-bay last time I checked!

Keep an eye out for Rupewrecht's imported parts. He can get pretty much anything from the yahoo.jp auction site, so he gets mazdaspeed seats in fairly regularly.

lee: Thanks for that link! I wouldn't mind a set of those suede black seats! I'll definitely keep and eye out!

Jeo: I've only got the door cards atm! I'm thinking of matching the front strip on my dash to the cards, maybe some vinyl paint? Not sure!

I'll be sure to throw some more pictures up once I've properly detailed it!

Thanks!

I was at MX5 Mania yesterday and they had a pair of red MazdaSpeed seats sitting on a shelf in the showroom.
Not sure of price or if they are for sale though.

Autotecnica do a wide range of ADR-approved seats with reclining backrests. Some will fit in MX-5s on the stock seat rails, and fitting of the normal seatbelt works fine. Check them out!

I remember this car; it was on the forum and CarSales a while ago. If I'd had the money I definitely would have been looking at it. Looks awesome; congrats on the buy! :)

I'll have to keep an eye out! If I was going to get the MazdaSpeed seats I'd probably want either red or black suede.

This might be useful to you.!

Yeah! I stumbled across that a while ago, majority of those seats are fixed back and a bit outdated unfortunately, but great info! Cheers.

I've actually had a look at some autotecnica & Drift seats, apart from being a bit heavy they seem very sutiable for a daily (cheap too). I guess its just finding the right model for our cars!

Thanks Paul! I'm glad I could snap it up before anyone else! Lucky!

haha I'll keep that in mind! No doubt I'll be selling them soon enough, but I'm not to sure about postage! Could cost an arm and a leg!

I've done the 'wilch mod' of installing a pair of Jaycar response 6.5" 2 ways as a temporary fix for my lack of speakers haha, I've also installed the rain guards as he did and water / damage proofed my speaker cables. I was impressed with the speakers actually, for around $35 they pack a decent punch, much better than bottom of the range Sony speakers I've heard! (which cost more!)

Anywho, I really need to spend a good couple of days on it rewiring the stereo, mounting my Tablet, sound deadening a bit, and a full service! But I'm afraid all that will have to wait until I'm done with Uni (not long, don't worry!) haha!

Here's a few more pics of (sorry about the crappy quality) the car! Thanks for the comments / Info! Keep them coming! I'm always welcoming suggestions / criticism!

Cheers.
