Hello,
I was wondering if there is a boot light in the 2001 mx5. If so, mine isn't working. Just wondering if there is a switch to turn it on, how do you replace the globe - if that is gone, and where is the fuse for it - if that should be the problem? Many thanks :?:

a proper "boot light" wasn't added until (I believe) 2003

However if your turn your parking lights on, you will get light from your "license plate" lamps which hang down from the bootlid :D

As Zombie mentioned, the rear plate lights double as the boot light on the NB8B. Though in my 2002, the moment I open the boot (either remotely or manually), the plate lights automatically turn on. I don't need to turn on the park lights.

AFAIK, the 2001 is the same as the 2002 NB8B.

The bootlight switch was added mid 2001. It uses the number plate lights and the switch is part of the boot latch. It should be easy to add retrospectively if you can source a latch from a wrecked car.
