hey guys..

This is my car, its a 1990 manual 1.6. I bought the car late january after being blown away with the handleing, power not so much but eh. Was pretty much stock apart from strut brace and na8 front brakes. A near rear window for the car was added and both gearboots were done as they was a hell of alot of heat coming from there.

when i bought it

Destroyed gearboots.. would explain the heat

After a week of driving it my car overheated because the thermo fan connection came loose on the way home. I didnt think it would be that bad but once my mechanic looked over it he said the head was warped . Not what i wanted to hear at all. So i decided to get a low km long nose engine instead.

While deciding when to get this done i bought some wheels. O.G oldskool wheelsfrom jdm yard. Once the wheels were bought i decided to take it in to mx5 plus in geebung to get it all sorted. Things that was getting done. New engine, new engine mounts, new clutch, new thermos, air con working again and a few small things here and there.

test fitting wheels

The car is still currently in the shop now and i thought it would be a good time for my coilovers. I decided to go with bc coilovers because i havent heard anything bad and for the price they are, they offer alot of adjustability and good quality design.

Coilovers in :D

Just recieved the car back and im absolutely stoked.. who said money cant buy happiness :) As soon as i got the car i took it for a long and deserving drive just to get a feel for the car.I also got mx5plus to install my coilovers because i thought it would be better to get it done by someone that knows alot more and will do a far better job..

this is how the car sat when i got it back yesterday..

Since i had a pretty much new car again i couldnt wait any longer to get the tires on. I got kuhmo ku31's in 195/50/15r. The fitment was perfect and i couldnt be more happier with the result. The tires themselves are brilliant, they offer great grip in wet and dry and are great bang for buck.

Once the car got home with the new wheels and tires on..

I will put better pics up later but this is it for now.

big thanks to danny and reece at mx5plus i cant recommend them enough, JDM yard, Just jap and Jax quickfit at aspley

ok as for future mod's.. Since i.ve only really been able to drive this car for a short time and that was only when it was running not so good... So first things first, drive it :) then in the not so distant future will be a front sway bar for starters, then so under body bracing and hopefuly give it some track time.. But i won't be getting rid of it anytime soon so i got alot of time up my sleeve.. Also had a drama today but i.ll update you all later on.. Cheers for the kind words.,

Nice car! I really like your ride height. It's low, but not too low. You'll have to come to one of our Brisbane gatherings soon. There will probably be one on the last Friday in March. Looking forward to more pics too 8)

thanks mate.. Will do :) once the springs settle in the coilovers it should fill in that gap above the wheel a bit better.. Oh and i can't recommend bc racing coilovers enough.. They ride brilliantly and a great bang for buck :). Will update soon guys

ok so yesterday as i was making the trip down to the goldie for work .. first time with the new tires and wheels and i found my car was getting increasingly hard to keep in a straight line.. i was gonna give the tire guy a call when i got to work but it go so bad i was starting to swerve.. so i pulled over and found smoke coming out from the front right wheel well and the tire flat.

Image

As it was still 6am in the morning and taking my spare out to fit parts in from mx5 plus the day before i was left without a spare.. meaning that i had to get it towed :( turns out there was a massive chunk missing from where the tire seals to the wheel.. which would explain the flat tire lol :)

Image

got given a tire from the tire place down the coast to get me through and new tire will be on tomorrow :)

hopefully nothing else happens
