Has anyone tried this for a CAI..?

I was thinking of drilling a hole next to the washer bottle and using a flexible tube or a metal/plastic pipe with the right angle bends so it all lines up and hooking it up to the factory airbox.

Has anyone tried this..? I'm guessing it's got to be better than sucking in hot air from the engine bay..

I did a few searches but couldn't find anything on it (apologies if it's been discussed before and i'm just too daft to find it  )

I have seen it done, just not sure where... Looked factory which is nice.

However, if you're going to go to the extent of drilling a hole in the firewall do it properly and get something like a mania CAI. The main resriction in the airbox will still be there with the system you're proposing so I doubt you'll notice a bit performance increase.

What I did as I don't want to drill a hole in my firewall was to put 3x one inch holes in the cold side of the air box. This gives a nice sound and is free.

Yeah, I thought about doing the holes in the airbox but im hoping for something that would be noticable power wise, even if just slightly..
Is the airbox really that restrictive..?

Yes.

I think you need to read this artice http://autospeed.com/cms/title_FreeFlow ... ticle.html

It was writted by forum member Matty a few years ago.

The holes in the side of the airbox made no difference performance wise, however it sounds faster
