ok a bit of an update

past week or so:
HID kit
se bilstein shocks with auto exe springs
brown davis roll bar
new front sway bar links
motul oil

this is my huge garage/workspace :(

6000k HID kit: I had the same brand/type in my skyline for over two years! I didnt even mount them properly, I had one cabled tied around the radiator (hot side lol) and the other was jammed inbetween some cables/vacuum lines and the held up perfectly! So i got them for the mx5 (and mounted them a lot more professionally) cost me around $150 + ~10 shipping.. cheap!

just to show you how effective they are, this is a shot taken mid day of the driver side with hid fitted, passenger without... massive difference.

shocks springs:
installed them pretty much like everyone else does (straight bar technique - i used the jack poll) except i worked out a simple method that helps remover sway bar links AND makes fitting the rear shock bolts into the tower much much easier for a one man job!

Image

instead of simply bashing out the sway bar links bolt, i got a sizzor jack and slowly jacked the hub up so the bolt for the link is horizontal and easily slips off (figured it out the hard way after forking out $70 for 1 sway bar link)

after

had to drive the car to the mx5 factory like this... held up just fine!
Image

end result: desperately needs a wheel alignment but overall feels nice and firm..

the roll bar install was pretty straight forward, bought a 90degree drill bit adaptor from bunnings for $29, looks like it will last a while, comes with more then a dozen bits n bobs! dont have any photos just yet

That's all i can think of for now, next is some wheels to cruise around in, brake pads and double din head unit install! Then hopefully attend as many track days as my first year apprentice salary can!

Cheers!
