SO I figured it was about time I introduced my car properly.

A 1999 NB8A, Brilliant Black in colour with 110k when I bought it and absolutley stock as a rock

But first

I might flick back and show you my first introduction to the addiction of these vehicles

Her name was Tina and she was a 1997 NA8 in Montego Blue in the most pristine condition. 84k on the clock and looked after by a young lady that hardly drove her and washed and detailed the car as often as possible

The first day I got her!

Many fun times!

Then unfortunately the combination of being young, dumb and lets just not go into the rest, lead to this

She was a repairable write-off from insurance and not much I could do. I looked at buying her back but the auction went alot higher than I ever thought possible. So I took the money from insurance and went on a hunt to find another immaculate MX5.

6 months later I found the above... Sarah

of course here are some more pics

the above pics are after I claybarred her and gave her an incredibly large detail (a good 7 hour day)

Now the Mod List
What has been done (in order)
1. Front Intake Grill (for a bit of bling)
2. Miata Shift Knob (again bling)
3. Voodoo Piano Black Shift Knob (amazing feel)
4. Lightweight Racing Wipers
5. No Name, No Drill CAI (bought from Alex and made a huge improvement)
6. MX5 Plus side mount Number plate Bracket (for the asian side of me)
7. Tein Strut Brace is in (Makes a huge difference)
8. Polished Radiator Cowl is in (again Blingy)

What I want to be done and hopefully in order
1. Whiteline Adjutable Sway Bars
2. Interior Lighting Kit
3. TorqueBox Twin Hoop Roll Bar (eventually Chrome dipped or heavily polished metal)
4. SE Bilstein Suspension Set-up
5. Full Exhaust System from MX5 Mania

Hi lukey,

Love the shots of your car, your detailing job was obviously top notch, the paint looks amazing !

I have a 99 as well, she's named 'toy' and I'm very interested in the CAI you put on Sarah, would you be able to give me some details and if possible post a photo of it.

Thanks,

toymx5

As for details

I cant exactly say. It would probably be best to forward your queries to Alex on the Forum if he is willing to answer as I purchased it off him.

I do know the Pod is an A3 Racing Filter and is incredibly good quality

Sarah is very cute and that Black is just fabulous ..... but don't kid yourself about those modifications, it's like renovating a house - just never ends ..

My car "nameless" began life just like yours, an NB8A

Hey
I believe the actual intake was one of the original Mx5Mania "No-Drill Cold Air Intake" ones, it was made for the NB8B's as the normal Mx5Mania intake requires a hole in the firewall, not possible with the NB8B ABS unit, I added a cover to the heatshield as well and a 3A racing filter as the one that came with it had way too much oil on it and had left a film of oil all through the intake which I had to clean out.

You might be able to get one from Mania, give them a call, I suspect it would be made up of the "K&N Typhoon Air Intake System" and a "Heat Shield for 1.8 Unifilter Custom Induction Intake"

Thanks guys

I definately enjoy the car and love taking care of her.

SE Bilstein as I wasnt sure if I want to go low as it is a daily driver but also want better suspension than whatever is on there

Wheel Wise I really want the 949racing 6UL Wheels but really wont be able to afford them for a while so I guess its whatever is on the cards

Thanks for the comments guys

As gut wrenching as it is some old bloke smashed into me whilst I was stationary and my car has been off the road for almost 2 weeks and will most likely be longer. I did start up another thread but I figured this is the constant life of your car so yeah why not put it in here.

Essentially the whole front needed to be replaced apart from the drivers side Headlight.

Im hoping to get her back tomorrow or Tuesday but no word yet so I am not expecting much.

Ill throw some pics up later

Cheers

As i always say with these situations, the best you can do is try and turn it into a good thing, try and end up with a car that was better than before the accident. A repairable accident can also be an opportunity!

SE Bilsteins, if you can come across a good condition set in known working order might be quite an affordable option, but like Philz, don't discount other more adjustable options, you may find they are also in your budget.

Hope it all goes well - car looks very well maintained. It will be great to see your plans come to fruition, the result will be well worth it.
