I bought this car from Richard a month or so ago:

Here's one I snapped when I put the deposit on it:

This car is a testament to Rick, very well sorted. I bought a car and ended up with a go kart. He drove it from Sydney to Melbourne and I drove it from Melbourne to Hobart, where I only have to drive 5-10mins for a great mountain or ocean road :D Unfortunately a week after owning it the gearbox ate itself, was just driving through town when 2nd got very very noisy, tried to baby home in other gears but before long all gears were bad and it was seized. Got a low km replacement from Mx5plus and fixed it last week. Hopefully this is all I have to spend for a while (though the power window switch broke when removing the centre console, they're a bit fragile :S ).

Whoa! what were you doing?? Looks like you got airborne and kept in the throttle and landed and ripped the teeth out or something. I ripped a tooth off my audi first gear, not sure how though, 4wd makes it a little easier to do.

Any problems getting it regod in Tasmania? Or is it a mod-friendly state?

I'd suggest that I wasn't doing anything to provoke it, but it had already had a hard life.

I wouldn't say that Tas is mod-friendly per se - I had my last car engineered through the NCOP scheme - but I didn't have any trouble with the '5, no.

So how did you transfer the reg? Were you just issued with a RWC and that was it?
If it was in Victoria the mechanic doing the RWC would just pass out and tell you to go home.

Same with the ACT, you'd have to go over to pits for a detailed inspection. One reason why I never bothered to change the Celica's rego over.

Our Celicas had engine swaps though, Nark, which is a bit of a bigger deal than upgrading the Mx5 to something that was produced by the factory (SE/SP). Having said that, my sillycar passed engineering easily so pit inspection was a moot point.
