BARK's Turbo Roadster

Postby bark » Mon Jun 09, 2008 2:27 pm

Ok I've had this car about 2 years now I think, it's an 89 NA6 JDM Eunos Roadster.

When purchased it was pretty much standard but had 95k km's, 14x6\" aftermarket wheels, cat back exhaust and a replacement HKS air filter.

Here it is below as purchased...

Image

Mod's carried out thus far
- Tein Flex Suspension
- Upgraded to NB brakes
- 17\" Osaka rims
- Megasquirt PNP
- Greddy gear knob
- Greddy TD05-16g turbo
- Greddy SUS manifold
- Greddy external wastegate
- Greddy plumb back BOV
- Intercooler
- B6T rods and pistons
- ARP head studs
- K&N pod filter
- D1 Spec oil catch can
- Rebuilt engine
- Xtreme heavy duty organic clutch
- IL clear indicators and reflectors

Thanks guys.

Well I took the car down to Regency this morning and it failed... The cause of the failure is being investigated now and it looks like I may have an intermittent fault somewhere - I'm suspecting maybe a fuel pump. All went well bar the last 60 seconds where a fair load is placed on the car which highlighted a mis of some sort.

The project continues! Will keep you posted.

awesume a pioneer. i want to do this but after talking with jason at MRE aka miatasport he explained to me that no after market computer will pass regancy .i had thought about leaving the standard computer running a turbo on 0 to 1 pound to meet emishons they also explained that a fresh motor with 10.000 ks on it with out the turbo will also have a hard time meeting the standard adelaide is represive ! sounds like ya real close tho :) yer i know i carnt spell

silvermx5, do not be put off by one's opinions, education and perseverance is the key. Whether a vehicle passes emissions or not largely comes down to the tuner and some respect the ECU. The ECU needs to have the programmability for the tuner to meet the emissions standards. The tuner needs to have an appreciation of combustion and the gases that make up combustion in order to be able to tune for emission standards.

Sorry to take this on a bit of a tangent, but I have been told pretty much the same as silvermx5 just mentioned and something occured to me. Is it not the case that being 1989 you may be able to get away with it (pre 89 regs and 26 ADRs) but anything later (such as mine :( ) has to meet 1996 emissions regs (good luck  ) and 36 ADRs? I do of course like the philosophy that it can be done.

Disco, as my vehicle is an 89 model I must meet the original emission requirements that were placed on this engine (i.e. non turbo). I'm not sure if the emissions requirements change from 89 to 96 as you elude to...

Have just received my bigger injectors (550cc's), just need to get my bigger exhaust, then off for a retune with a bit more boost. My stock exhaust is struggling to cope from about 5,400rpm - it's just too small.
