Welcome to the fold. Looks like a tidy example you've picked up.

So what are your plans for her?

Not 100% sure on the plans yet.. still getting used to her and figuring out what avenue to take.
Suspension needs replacing somewhere down the track and i suppose the general exhaust, headers, CAI.. etc etc..

have no plans on Boosting her as of yet, just really wanted a NA light weight car.. for some weekend moutain drives and maybe some weekend track stuff.. if i ever get some time of work

but right now just loving putting the roof down, getting the revs up and smelling the world around me.. haha

Great photos! Was it difficult finding such a clean, 'untainted' NA?

I must of looked at about 15 of them..
I ended up just locking myself into less than 120,000k's, Must be jap spec, cos i really felt i needed the LSD and wanted the power options, and as stock as possible.

The car has a few dings and lil bit of paint fading, but that can all be fixed down the track.

So far its made me incredibly happy..

Being a JDM example, does that mean it has no A/C and no power steer?

I drove such an example in NZ last yearand wow, it was so... pure. Loved it. There's definitely an NA in my future. An NA with quads. :D

ALL Japanese Eunos Roadsters had power steering, air con and power windows. The NZ market got a "poverty pack" option that had manual windows, no power steering and no air con.

Australia never received an MX5 without power windows, but PS and AC were optional until not long ago.

Yeah, Mine being a jap spec has all power options... Air con even works.. haha
But i would be interested to drive one without power steering.. although i am very lazy.. and would most likely never stop complaining about the heavyness.. i actually find the NA power steering to be quite likeable.. doesnt seem to interfere or make my steering inaccurate.
like some other cars i have drĂven

So finally... I have got my hands dirty... Poor lil NA didn't know what hit her :D

After just driving her to bits the past year, i have finally got around to fixing up a few things.

First off was replacing those 20 year old shocks.

I was able to score a set of Koni Coilovers, which i seem to have some very soft springs but the have been great for the price so far.
Made a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE... Anyone out there with old worn out shocks.. REPLACE THEM.. its like a new car! :P

A lil bit of trouble getting the front in but nothing i... A NUBE.. couldn't pull off with a mate.

Only prob is the rear seems to not have much travel with a driver in. Maybe because the spring perch is set to low for the spring rate??? Have to look into that

Image

I did actually manage to nick a brake line at the front with the breaker bar. oooops

So the next weekend my Braided Lines arrived from MX5 CENTRE and i picked up DBA SLOTTED ROTORS from MANIA
Image

and under the advisment of AJ, some

HAWK 'Performance Ceramic' Brake Pads.. Image

I also grabbed a set of standard Rear Rotors for the back.

Got Stuck into it all...

Image

Front went ultra smoothly but when i got to the rear i realised i had one SEIZED CALIPER.. I took it apart and noticed it was all kinds of messed up. So i got online and found 2 BRAND SPANKIN NEW ONES in the UK, delivered to my door for 280 bucks.. SO i had to wait another week to get my car back on the road.

They went in easily enough and after 3 trips around the car bleeding the pedal was rock hard!

Just today i went to HEASEMENS in Sydney and .. WOW... Those guys know what there talking about. Best service ever.. i just called up and asked if at all possible today to fit me in. They said if i arrive and wait they'll try there best. Waited about 45 minutes.. haha LOVED IT.

I asked for a aggresive setup for some track work.. which better happen real soon.!! 8) Can't WAIT!!

SO i left with

1 1/2 Neg, 2 Mill out
1 1/2 Neg, 2 Mill in
+6 degrees Castor

I was on my way down south to the old home town, so i decided to go the ROYAL NATIONAL PARK and i will be going back KANGEROO VALLEY way. Car has so much more grip, you can just throw it into corners and smile your way out of them. Before i was getting some bad Understeer. ewwwwww

So yeah.. Took a while but the car is well on its way now.

Nice to see you're making it your own. Looks like you ditched the OEM number plate mount too :) What did you replace it with?
