Spent a good part of 2006's weekends preparing it. The interior & boot trim was removed. As was the soft top. The heater, power windows, power mirrors ect were all retained. The passenger seat must also stay under 2F regs. Also, it was always to remain road registered. Below is a complete list of what went into the car in the order it happened. One of the best looking NA's on the road or track.

Super well sorted and very quick. Watching it come off the bridge at Oran Park was great. 8)

Looks great in the pics but it's even better in the flesh!!

Thank you very much for your kind words. To hear that makes trying to keep a race car looking nice worth while.

Matt, I won't be going turbo any time soon, so I suggest building Australia's 2nd Laguna Blue race car.

I keep notes on everything. That is from a list of the build with all the prices removed.

I noticed braided brake lines was one of the first things you did. Did you find that it made a big difference and was worth the cost?

How do you like the Hawk blues? I got a set and found that they are a bit numb, they need lots of pressure to start doing anything and its more of an on off feeling so I found it hard to modulate and heel the throttle.

They weren't the first thing for any other reason than they came up. The cost was $240. I believe the brakes are probably the most cost effective way to get performance out of an MX5. Braided lines, slotted rotors, good pads, good fluid (changed regularly) and a master cylinder brace are all is required. The sticky rubber helps obviously.

The Hawk Blues are good, but I really only have the Halk HP+ to compare to. I'm about to try some Carbotech pads because they are supposed to be at least as good with hardly any dust. As you'll know, the Blue's are terribly dusty.

yeh the blues were very dusty and scored the rotors. I ended up putting on hawk HP+, but haven't been back to wakefield. At EC I think they faded a little braking into turn 2 by the time I got to second gear. They are pretty good on the street.

I have a cheap ebay strut brace. I drilled a hole through the mount on top of the strut and put a bolt through it. I then put a piece of rubber over the end where it meets the master cylinder. Works fine. I have a much fancier one on BRG but the result is the same.

I have not had fade from the HP+ at QR in the other car.

1red5, thanks mate.
