S/Steel = no paint? Like.....
I am thinking about $200 or less shipped within Australia would be nice, discount for pickup of course.
These are going to sell like meat pies at the footy.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Aluminium has less then half the stiffness of steel for the same section. So ally unit would need a re design with increased section size or shape change to produce the same part stiffness.
Being under Fender I assume space will be tight which will make increased size difficult.
Fatigue strength is harder to evaluate as it depends on grades, but in general its about half for high strength grades. This makes it crack far quicker then steel.

Not to mention that steel, under certain loads, don't have any fatigue issues that aluminum displays. sailaholic, you an engineer?

Yup. Materials engineer with access to materials properties database.
Personally I would be just as interested in ones made from mild assuming there was a reasonable price difference.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
Would there be any benefit at all to stanless over mild?
I would have thought Mild steel that's been painted would be just as strong with the bonus of being cheaper.
Rust might be a problem, but if it's painted well it should last ages before that's a problem.

Stainless is much nicer to weld, doesnt require paint and retains professional finish, and therefor resale value for 10 years.
Also raw stainless with TIG welds looks very professional, which is a priority for me.
Ill price it up and go from there.

Awesome!
I would so much prefer to support an igunative locally made product, rather than fill UPS's coffers in shipping costs!
Make sure you leave your self a healthy mark up Dann, I am sure they will still work out dramaticly cheaper than sourcing Frog arms from OS.

Re: NitroDann's Long Awaited Garage Thread
You would notice the welds look different, Its a different grade of stainless, and Ive yet to work out how to set up my welder to get the same effect.
Some of those welds are close but not exactly to my taste, visually.
the other thing is my welding helmet is cheap, so when I set my welder to pulse how I like it my welding mask turns off, and I get flashed a couples times every second, and after 2 cm or welding I cant see... I need a new helmet haha!
