Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
atm I have more on my mind than the car as unfortunately I pulled a nerve in my lower back yesterday while working
the figures came in late today at around 300 but things will want to improve health wise or there will be no trip north for me-very disappointing!

No good, mate! Rest up, and the car will be waiting for you when you're ready, the NT isn't going anywhere.
300 sounds awesome, but we all know Dann can massage that a bit and get every last drop out of it.

300 would make for quite a ride on the NT boganbarn!
Hope it clears up, I know nerve pain can be a real b*tch, at least you've got a healthy power figure to urge you through your recovery.

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
I still have the car for a bit to get the road manners spot on, and I could turn it up, however the car might be limited to 'whatever is at the pump plus octane booster' due to the remote areas it travels to.
In order to allow this AND still let him treat it like a redheaded stepchild this is about as far as I'd want to go.
If we leaned on it more then in order to be able to wring it right out it would absolutely need excellent fresh premium, however as I said that isn't always going to be available for this car, out near alice, for example.
On e85 I've no doubt it would go 350 right off the bat.
I know that you guys see me do a lot of these similarly high powered mx5s that it seems sort of normal, but I can assure you that 300 whp is absolutely flying.

Bad backs - never fun

300 horses
now that would be a ball of fun!!
Hope the back gets better soon! I used to be a bricklayer, so I know back pain. Fingers crossed it heals quick and properly so you can get up here and enjoy your car!

3rd vote for painting that Beemer when you're feeling better. Wish you a speedy recovery.
NA6 turbo - 140kw atw - not the most powerful but so much fun

Very nice! I assume the second line is boost, what's the torque like? At any rate, that should do a bit to encourage your back to get itself right
I do hope you're feeling better.
As a side question if anyone knows, why do some dyno plots skip the first few thousand RPM? Are they just considered irrelevant?

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
You're doing a bunch of hard runs on the engine, doesnt make tonnes of sense to run the engine through an essentially irrelevant portion of the rpm band each time.
Also the pull is done loaded in a high gear so starting at idle isnt feasible, so you have to pick some rpm above idle.

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
yeah. thanks I am working on the back issue. at home I've knocked back all night shift work so no overtime
2 or 3 times per night say 5 days a week for me
for a while. after all i'm not a machine
saying that and all jokes aside I saw a you tube video on sciatica nerve back pain a couple of days ago and been doing the stretch exercises about 4 times a day and I feel its working better than the harder pain killers i'd been taking and quicker relief.
so you can get good info off you tube...well sometimes

Re: billybunters - from a bmw z4 to a mx5 se
pretty good day today. mail arrived as usual with a bonus. years back like 20 or more I used to write hunting articles and do cover shots for the hunting mag sporting shooter. a few months back and a 20 year break I decided i'd like to have a go and write about my fox hunting experience in the early 70's - the big $$$ days of hunting.
anyway they accepted the article and I got the feature run so pretty please with that plus I will get paid for it too. not that it matters - they could have had it for free
plus I noticed they included my early day photos of my fiat x19 which knew its way around the paddocks
and it was near new
great for spotlighting with that targa roof
