Brilliant idea. A simple fix for an annoying problem. My old NA now has a new bung thanks to the old perished one dying one evening coming home from the city...

How's progress on the head/engine?

I can't wait to see this finished, I think you'll surprise quite a few people with the pace of the car...

Hey Geoff,
All good things come to those who wait, so everybody who are doing my machine work are telling me.

The head is well under way, most of the machining work is done, and the assembly "should" be all finished by next weekend. Unfortunately my head isn't the only work Keith has on at the moment.

The block, flywheel, pistons etc are all being done at the moment, balancing will be done this week.
Still waiting for parts from the US, some company's are brilliant 949 Racing is by far the best I've ever dealt with, 4 day after ordering the parts are waiting for pick up from customs. Some still haven't even departed from the stores yet!!!!!

Still the price difference makes it worth while.

Why would a standard car surprise people Geoff????

Hi All,
A few bits came back last week so I assembled some of the bottom end,

some of the parts for the motor

Spent Sunday morning filing rings, gees I hate file to fit rings, but the benefits are definately there!! Then I assembled everything, just waiting for the ARP bolts for the bottom end and I can finish it off and drop into the engine bay. The head is still not finished, no excuses, he wants to do it when he's in the mood   Promised for next Tuesday!!!
So this is how it looks at the moment.

And finally found a decent Video camera mount

Hi all,
Finally picked up the head today after travelling to Tamborine, s&*t thats a long drive   Actually took the Clubman for a run, first long run for 1? months
Every thing I asked for was done and to a standard I expect for a race engine,
Head relieved for BIG cams
Image
Fair bit of cleaning up
Image
And a few other secrets ingredients that Keith does to all his heads.
All of my parts bar the timing belt and intake gasket have arrived,

Even bits not for the motor

So by the weekend everything will be back together and then a quick blap up the mountains and off to the dyno for a tune.
Keep ya posted

And just for Boags, an "Oh sh*t" light,
Image

and an Oh sh*t light switch!!!

And for those who have to ask, an osl is for when the oil pressure drops and we're not looking at the guage, Thus when that light goes on you'll certainly say "-----------"

Its definetly looking like its gonna pack the goods!!

I also had issues with the black watercap and recently had to replace it...
I was considering some sort of idea like yours but didnt have the time and tools to remove the head...

Hey all,
Well Scooter is now sitting in the shed waiting for the 13th/14 Feb to go play.Looking BORED!!!!

Image

So how does he go, Very nicly thank you!!!
Did the head work make any difference? Well, when you misses tells you that she can hear you from 3 blocks away and your not up it then I'd say that it's breathing very well!!! Had to take it down and have a resonator fitted to bring it back to what it was, sh8t it was noisy!!!!

Image its looks so stock 8) 8)

New Toyo 888's tyres to pick up during the week for Sunday and I'll run the old Dunlops for practice and Sprints on Saturday!!

I picked up the cams from Tighe Cams on Friday and was told some VERY interesting info about them.
According to Dean Tighe these cams are a custom set made for Murray Coote's Familiar and are the only set ever made :) .Dean explained all about the cams and what grid they are, 725C which are the same grind used on DJR's Cosworths, mega torque and big HP gains, so the question remains ,Where did Steve get these cams from????. I'll probably try these out after the Top Gear event.

I need to replace one coil pack as the 1/4 pack is behaving badly, every so often it drops a cylinder, runs like sh*t then after cooling down all is good.

I also checked the QFM brake pads during the week ready to fit new ones for Sat, but the old ones after 8 or so track jaunts and a bit of testing and some running around have worn down exactly .1 mm F & R. At this rate the new one will be sitting on the shelf for a bloody long time.

So no more to add will let you know how Scooter and I go!!!
