I reckon if all the members on the forum with "spare bits" got together, we could upgrade a "sorry" MX5 to a pretty decent one!

All the bits to get started are together, time to knuckle out a start time with Daz and away we go! By the time we get this part sorted, the weather should be nice and cool to run the Problem Child on the dyno for the first time during winter weather!

Looking good. Going external gate on this one, should be interesting to see the plumbing.

Daz already has a plan visualised for that, as for the pipe work, Dave will be taking care of that for me again, along with the exhaust I got off you last year. I’m thinking that I may do a bit of cosmetic stuff too and crinkle paint the new flat top intake black as well as some other ideas.

Re: Daffy's SE
Have a look at pictures others have done of painting their intake manifold and what it looks like after 6 months - when it starts flaking off it looks ratty.
Consider polishing it instead, MASSIVE effort but it looks great (so maybe just the top half).

Re: Daffy's SE
I got my intake manifold ceramic coated black 2 years ago and still looks as good as when it was done. All the painted intakes I've seen flake and peel after a while, but I suppose if you need to re-paint it after a year or 2 its not too hard of a job to take the top of the intake off and redo.

Re: Daffy's SE
I’ll get some guidance from my mate Joe (panel beater that works in with Daz), I have thought recently that maybe some kind of Daffy duck design plate or badge may do me!

Re: Daffy's SE

Soooo…… Daz has closed up shop. His dad, now 78 has decided to finally enjoy more of his retirement years, and as such Daz is taking on a new venture, but will however be still Doctoring the Problem Child, with the works started this week. With that said, as previously posted, I have a red hot G25-669 Garrett, Pure Fab custom high mount exhaust manifold with external waste gate provision, a flat top inlet manifold (cheers Luke), some new cold air intake and intercooler piping, as well as exhaust mods (Dave’s on board and coming out of retirement for that) with an in excellent condition stainless steel system purchased from Maniac Lachy, (cheers bro!).
Added to this a reworked heavy duty clutch from a specialist mob in Victoria that Daz had used on previous occasions for his Subaru fans.
The dyno work will again be trusted to the famous Matty at PITS, with the possibility of a Haltech IC-7 dash- yet to be decided though. I’ll have some good pics and progress reports shortly (though I’m not just a short walk away from the workshop….I’m actually on the other side of the Gold Coast), but I’ll do my best
